Scouts extend beyond America! Although in Canada, like most of Europe, they are just called "scouts" and include both boys and girls.

That said, I have never been a scout in my life, and probably just picked up the expression from TV as a kid. I'm a bit of an expression sponge... I frequently find myself accidentally absorbing and using the personal verbal ticks of my friends, be it Ryan calling his dog a "ferocious beast who must be destroyed" or JJ jokingly referring to everything as the "_____ of the sea". It's actually a little embarrassing... especially when I regurgitate a phrase in front of the person who uses it!

"I thought you ended this comic two, maybe more, years ago. I remember seeing Sam and Fuzzy on a cab and reading something about how you were done writing. Am I crazy? I loved ready this comic and am overjoyed to see that it's still going. " -Kyle

You are totally crazy. I don't think I've ever threatened to stop Sam and Fuzzy, especially not that long ago!

There is an end to the story that I'm working towards, but it's still a ways away yet. And I promise as soon as I do finish this story, I'll just start up another one. I'm kind of addicted to making comics. (Also I need to make them to live.)

Lanterns

My big Sam and Fuzzy Green Lantern parody commission is done! You can view a picture of each step of the drawing process -- from thumbnail pencils to full colour finished art -- on my tumblr!

I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. If anyone thinks I should turn it into an 11 x 17 print and would want to nab one, email me and let me know!

I have to admit, I'm also kind of tempted to make an alternate version featuring the Sam and Fuzzy characters without the Green Lantern trappings. I think both the original and the hypothetical altered version would make for good future book club bonus desktops, don't you?

Sam and Fuzzy Fall "Western Canada Tour" (Ha!)

You might have noticed that I have added a couple new conventions to my schedule! The Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo (October 20-21) and Winnipeg's Central Canada Comic-Con (Nov 2-4).

Edmonton Expo is a brand new show put on by the Calgary Expo folks, while Central is one of Canada's biggest and longest running comic-cons. Both are in cities I have never visited before. (At least, not as a cartoonist... childhood family vacations are another story!) It's always exciting to do a show in a new place and meet so many readers for the first time. I'm really looking forward to it, and hoping both shows kick enough butt to justify repeat visits in the future.

I'll also be doing one more Vancouver appearance this year. You will be able to find me at the Vancouver Gaming Expo (Nov 10-11), even though it is not a comic convention, because I am a dork and I like video games. (And because Brian, the dude who runs it, throws some seriously fun events!) I'll be bringing all my usual swag, plus one or two slightly more unusual gaming-themed items. More details as we get closer to the show!
