The Monolith: Comic-Con Edition

Yow! Comic-Con is crazier than ever! But I've been having a lot of fun over at booth #1229, meeting lots of fans and educating lots of newbies.

I've also been working on a new tier for our kickstarter! It's the MONOLITH: COMIC-CON EDITION -- a version of our hardcover edition that comes with one random, original marker illustration of Fuzzy cosplaying, drawn during this year's comic-con! (And often inspired by attendees and reader suggestions.)

I think it's a fun way to offer more of our artist edition monoliths without overburdening myself post-kickstarter. While you don't get to choose your character with this tier, you do get a surprise one-of-a-kind piece of original art. And no two costumes are the same! I've opened up 35 of these editions to start, and I'll add a few more in the morning to give folks in different timezones a crack at 'em.

Anyhow, I'd better start resting up for the next three days of San Diego madness! Good night, team.

Stan Diego

I am in San Diego, getting ready for this year's Comic-Con! Are you at San Diego Comic-Con? Then come see me at the Topatoco Booth! (AKA: booth #1229.)

I wanted to draw a few fun stand-alone strips to run while I was away, and (probably because I've been working so much on the Omnibus kickstarter), I was feeling nostalgic and decided to check in on some old, long-absent faces. (Sort of.)

Speaking of said kickstarter, I added a new one-off tier today with another big piece of original art... the Noosehead Omnibus' back cover art, featuring said band rocking out. I also added two more of the "completionist" tier, if anyone was hoping to score some of the last copies of my old mini-books.

I know what a lot of you guys really want is for me to open up more of the Monoliths! They are limited only by my ability to draw so many pictures for everyone's books, but I think I may have figured out a way to make one more batch. More on that on Friday!

Kicks and Cons

That's a (ambiguous) wrap for our latest chapter! Before lunging into the next one, I'm going to spend the next few updates doing one-off comics that revist some of our comic's older cast. (Working on the Omnibuses has gotten me in the mood!) Tune in on Wednesday for the first one.

Speaking of the Sam and Fuzzy Omnibus Kickstarter -- we are now a stone's throw away from adding the first Sam and Fuzzy comic ever drawn to the books. (As well as free PDFs of a bunch of others.) A lot of folks seem really interested in seeing how Sam and Fuzzy came together, from confused childhood scrawlings to a massive 10+ year webcomic, so I thought this would be a good start!

Later today, I'll also be posting a kickstarter update showing some examples of concept art and other random doodles drawn during the Noosehead era of the comic, pulled straight out of my original sketchbooks. If you want a little insight into how far ahead I plan the comic, or what kind of stuff I doodle when I'm bored, I think you'll find this interesting!

And of course, this week is also San Diego Comic-Con! As always, I will be hanging out at the Topatoco booth in the webcomic pavillion, where they will be selling a wide variety of Sam and Fuzzy swag. A cool new side project I'm going to be working on later this year is going to be announced at the show, so there's lots to look forward to! AND LOTS TO DO, AHH
