Notes of note

Kickstarter backers: all the books and other rewards have arrived at Make That Thing HQ! They're being packed up and readied to mail right now! I hope you are as psyched as I am.

In other news... I'm happy to announce that I will be at this year's Anime Expo in Los Angeles this July 1st-4th! I've never been before, so I'm pretty stoked. I hope to see lots of you there! I'll post more info closer to the show.

That's all for today, team. But we return on Friday with a new comic and a new round of Q and A. Got a question for me? Pop it in an email with "Q and A" in the subject line!

Last day to download our free e-book!

Fuzzy and Hazel got pretty real during our previous volume, Missing Inaction -- particularly during the Most Wanted and Missing Link storylines. He was abducted at the time, which, you know, is always a great situation to try and work through your issues.

Today is the last day of our celebratory 15th anniversary e-book special! If you would like to nab our e-book of Volume 1 for FREE, or get the complete e-book collection for 60% off, today's the day to do it. And by all means, if you know anyone who might be interested in that free e-book, let 'em know! A lot of newbies have done so already, which is awesome.

Come back on Wednesday for our next comic! See you then.

I wonder which ninja that could have been? I guess we'll never know.

Sam and Fuzzy Q & A:  Imperial Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"When the original Ninja Emperor got allegedly murdered by Sam, did anyone on the Committee feel bad? Like, was the Emperor super best friends with Cowboy council guy, or was he despised by Vampires for hogging the emo and blending-in-the-shadow scene. Was Sam also on the run from the cowboy mafia, vampire mafia, etc while running from the Ninja Mafia?" -Tom

I don't think the Ninja Emperor was particular well-liked by the rest of the Committee. In particular, Paxton -- aka the cowboy hat guy -- was someone he spent a significant amount of time feuding with over the band of Wazu-la.

The original, pre-Fridge-possession emperor hasn't been discussed too widely in the comic. We know that Mr. Black thought he was an unqualified aristocratic buffoon, and we know that he had a serious love of fine things and trinkets. The Underground RPG (book / ebook), which takes place when he's still alive, has a bit more info about him -- he's described as a foppish playboy more interested in wealth and finery than the day-to-day operations of the Mafia.

Long story short, the old Ninja emp was a regal dude who didn't care much about policy and was activelycombative with other Committee members. I suspect no one was particularly sad to see him go.

"Why do you make these massive omnibuses instead of chapter-by-chapter comic books? You could crowbar someone over the head with one of these! Mmmm… Crowbars." -Jake

Individual comic issues, at least physically printed ones, never felt like they'd make much sense for me because the vast majority of my physical comics are sold online and sent to people by mail order. The average Sam and Fuzzy graphic novel breaks down into 20-30 regular sized comic books, and it's a lot more expensive to mail someone 30 individual smaller books than one large one.

I do sometimes wonder, though, if I should try breaking the books up into individual issues to sell them in digital comics marketplaces, like Comixology!

"Maybe I missed it, but seeing some of the Committee members in a nonstandard gathering makes me realize that I have no idea what the official meeting schedule is. Is it by request? Is it every Tuesday? Is it at the new moon, but only during hockey season? I don't know why it matters, but I need an answer!" -Simon

Let's invent canon RIGHT NOW! I think they meet twice a month, unless something urgent comes up. Sound good? Yeah... yeah! That must be it!

That's a wrap for this week, team. See you on Monday!
