Are you sure what side of the glass you are on

I'm glad folks are so enthusiastic about the art contest. I really should have done something like this sooner!

Claire and I did our best to come up with something that could involve as many of Sam and Fuzzy's readers as possible. We didn't want to exclude people who aren't the most capable artists, which is why we've got the award for the most original idea. But at the same time, I wanted to see some really bad-ass artistry, which is why we've got the most impressive artwork award. (Also, because some people asked... this contest is open to everyone, regardless of where you live. I'll mail the prize anywhere.)

There are already several entries posted, which is great! But of course, there's no mad rush. The contest runs for three weeks, after all. Plenty of time!

No pressure!

Seriously!

Contested

Believe the banner. A contest is underway!

Claire and I are challenging you to draw a picture or comic depicting what Sam might have been up to since he last appeared in the comic. The more creative and outrageous, the better! We'll be picking two winners... one for the most impressive artwork, and one for the craziest theory about Sam's whereabouts. So, artists of all ages and talents have a crack at winning at least one of the two prizes.

And what fine prizes we have! The comic world is crazy for limited edition alternate covers. So, for each of our contest winners, I've crafted a special super-rare Plaid Edition of the first Sam and Fuzzy book. (Click the image to see a bigger, coloured version.) They're signed, they're numbered, they have an original drawing of Fuzzy in a kilt inside them, and one of them is yours if you win.

I think this could be a lot of fun. Or, it could be a huge disaster. Either way, you have three weeks to enter! Click the banner to get all the information!

I got a lot of emails about Monday's comments regarding the latest PvP storyline. I've also seen the comments discussed in a couple of places around the intertron, including the official PvP forum. To summarize my findings: Some people think I'm out to lunch, some people totally agree with me, and some people are waaaay more freaked out about it than I am. Ah well! Consensus is overrated anyway.

Trading places

Am I the only one who is seriously disturbed by the latest PvP storyline? To summarize for the non-readers, the story began with the "old switcheroo" plot... Brent and Skull switched bodies. That's not the disturbing part, though. (Unless you are really frightened by cliches.) The disturbing part was when Skull, trapped inside Brent's body, inadvertantly had sex with Brent's girlfriend.

It's being played for laughs, with Skull is too innocent to understand what happened, and Brent concerned that his own usual performance doesn't meassure up. But, um, I'm just freaked out because Jade was just completely violated. I realize that Brent and Skull didn't intend to take advantage of Jade, but they did, and now that they have they don't seem to be taking it very seriously. The comic just appears to be treating the whole event like a big joke, like it doesn't really matter that Jade was just decieved into sleeping with someone.

What do you guys think? Am I just being touchy? Maybe I am. But the whole thing just feels really wrong to me. It actually makes me wish that Kurtz would pull out another lame story cliche... "it was all just a dream."
