Avengers was so great, it makes me disappointed that it was the first superhero movie of the summer, because I have a feeling it'll just be downhill from here.

The lines weren't bad at all for me. We got our tickets, some drink, and went straight in, only waiting on a single other person ahead of us the entire time.

Of course, this was for a matinee showing of the 2D version. When we got out, they were lining up for the first night showing of the 3D, and the place was crazy packed.

Yeah it's what I'll be seeing it in. 3D sucks. Just haven't had the chance to get around to seeing it yet.

I just got back from seeing it in 2D.
Incredible! Definitely lived up to my expectations, and even surpassed them. As far as I'm concerned, Joss Whedon did everything right. He balanced the characters so that everyone had their chance to shine, the dialogue was the best out of any Marvel movie I've seen (minus the science mumbo-jumbo that was just complete gibberish), the action sequences were both exciting and they highlighted each character's abilities/how they would interact with one another, and it still managed to feel like a proper comic book movie without being too heavy-handed.
Joss Whedon was really the perfect choice for this one, and I'd credit it's success mostly to him. Not that the acting, visuals, music, etc weren't great too, but he really pulled it all together.

Banner was my favorite.

It's simple as that, it's simple as that, it's simple as that for your stupid ass.

His writing was, as usual, one of the highlights. Most of the best parts at the beginning were Iron Man's, most of the best parts at the end were the Hulk's, and Whedon's writing style was quite obviously stamped all over both sets.

I really liked Mark Ruffalo as Banner. Not as much as I liked Ed Norton, but the change wasn't as bitter as I'd expected it might be.

Yea he really did a great job and I actually haven't seen the Norton one so no pain there. "I'm angry all the time," TOO GOOD.

Spoiler: show
And then the absolute ass-stomping that happened afterwards! Fanboy drool. Like, all over the theater floor.

Honestly, aside from the change from Norton to Ruffalo, I was very iffy about the inclusion of the Hulk in this movie. I mean yeah, big green rage monster bashing the shit out of stuff, that never gets old, but compared to the intelligence and slickness of all the other heroes, I wasn't sure just bashing the shit out of stuff was going to be enough. But then that scene happened and then all the others following it, and I found myself absolutely shocked at the Hulk pulling ahead of all the others like a dark horse to win Most Awesome Avenger of the Day award.

The audience was busting their guts laughing while simultaneously applauding the entirety of his "fight" with Loki. It was beautiful.

Hmmmm, spoiler tags. Because what the heck, right?

AH THE LOKI BEATING. Yea, Hulk as a full character was really used well. Bruce when they needed him, Hulk when they didn't.

There's only one God, ma'am, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that.

So impressed they actually went there.
