Comic-book movies violate these. The writing isn't good, the acting isn't good, they're aren't original (real-life adaptation of a comic-book universe), and there's an enormous overabundance of CG.

Sin City was shit, Frank Miller can't right worth a damm. Thats why it wasn't on my list, its also full of completly needless CG (Yeah we get it, you can do all your backgrounds entirley CG, that doesn't mean you should {See also, Sky Captain and the World of Tomrow})

V for Vendetta is debatable as a quality movie, its debatable as a quality comic book movie considering it differs so much from the comic (And the comics writer has openly hated on it) but it did have good actors, wasn't filled with 'pretty people' or holywood cliche's and used almost no CG.

Saying "All comic book movies are bad" is ignorant, esspecialy when all your experience comes from Superhero movies wich are the most likley to turn into summer blockbusters with no depth (Spiderman, X-men, etc) or just suck on every conceivable level (Ghost Rider, Superman Returns)

No, I give them chances. Every one of them. And I am a huge Marvel fan. And I will always say that they are bad movies. Do I enjoy watching them? Yes! I am a Comic nerd. But do I think they are good movies? Hell no!

And I am not being ignorant: Sin City, Aeonflux (kind of counts), All the Batman movies (ESPECIALLY Batman Begins), CatWoman, The X-Men Trilogy, Judge Dredd, Blade, Constantine, Hulk, The Fantastic 4, Superman, TMNT, Swamp Thing, AvP, Barbwire, The Crow, Garfield, Josie and the Pussy Cats, and LXG are all bad movies. They all lack quality and originality. Come up with your own super heroes! Do your own thing! Don't copy from already existent material and "re-imagine it." It's a stupid way to make movies and most movies that take said approach, are lousy.

Again though, I think a movie should be judged on what it sets out to acheive. A movie like Tank Girl can't be held up to the same standards as Citizen Kane, its unfair. If all the movie sets out to acheive is to be an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half, and it suceeds, then regardless of how great the cinematography, or how over abundent the CG, or how flat the actors are it should be counted as a good movie. It's like saying Sam and Fuzzy is no Watchmen, so its a crap comic. They are setting out to do two completly diffrent things. It's unfair to judge them by the same standards.

Absolutely! That's why there are genres and different films lead the genres, in terms of quality. However, there are some standards that are universal that count towards making a quality film. And comic films, most always can't hit the mark with those standards.

What about ordinary book adaptations? Or movies based on TV shows (and vice versa)? Do you hate them too? They too are guilty of this, but are generally held in much higher regard, because they are not aimed primarily at nerds.

(I do agree with you, though. I would like to see more originality in teh moofees. It ain't going to happen anytime soon, though, because there's more money in established properties, and that's all they really care about.)

Also, History of Violence was brilliant. I wouldn't have even known it was based on a comic if nobody had told me.

Alot of those movies suck. I'm not gunna deny it. But look at your list, every movie you listed is basicly a superhero movie with the Exception of AVP, Garfield and Josie and The Pussycats. And those movies sucking probbably has a lot to do with not having great source material to start with. And shit, Barbwire? Are you fucking serious? Of course that was going to suck

That and I would hardly call LXG and Constantine guilty of being un-original. They're pretty much completly diffrent from there source material (To the point of LXG turning Tom Sawyer into basicly the main charecter were he wasn't even in the book)

But honestly, you say you enjoyed some of the movies? The movie wern't setting out to do anything more then that. Alot of movies wern't even setting out to do that in the first place (I'm looking at you Garfield) Is the sole reason for them being 'bad movies' because they are addaptations of something? What about Shindlers List? that was just what happend to some dude in the war? Crap movie then? Diary of Anne Frank, Fight Club, The Shining, Shawshank Redemption, all shit movies cause they're based on existing stories?

Man Witch Hunter Robin done by Tim Bureton would actully be about 4teenaged boys that are all terrified of clowns also witches are lame so there would be no witches, they would all be referd to as Wiccas, and superpowers are stupid so they wouldn't actully be able to do any of that fire shit they would just chant and stuff.
