Also, being the right hand man of Fury is no laughing matter. He was integral in the creation of the Avengers squad in the movies and was never shown to be "expendable."

Robin Scherbatsky...might be.

They're not gonna kill Robin, Maria Hill is too much of a major player in the Marvell Universe, she's like a foil for Fury.

Also usually way hotter then Robin.

Admittedly I know nothing about the comic character. I was just surprised to see Robin.

Yeah she was the only character I didn't buy the casting choice for. I always figured she was latino or something in the comics

Her cartoon appearance didn't help either.

Basically she's second in command of shield. When shit goes down and Fury dissapeares (He does that, a lot) she takes over. She's kind of a hard arse take absolutely 0 amount of shit from anyone chick.

The only other thing that I didn't like about the movie was
Spoiler: show
The pilot making a nuke strike on manhattan. Sorry but bullshit. No pilot is going to drop a nuke on a friendly city. Hell they had like 5 planes dropping bombs on nagasaki and hiroshima with only one having a real bomb so that none of the pilots knew who actually dropped the nuke so it wouldn't destroy them psychologically.

He's the Admiral Ackbar of Marvel Comics.

Yeah I was pretty shocked about how casual the fighter pilot was about nuking Manhattan. Thought they were gonna make him a bit more conflicted or something.

And I kept expecting to see Coulson show up again later, maybe in one of the post credit scenes. Especially after Fury revealed the bloody cards were faked.

I just saw the fighter pilot as a cold, servile "arm" of the council that ordered him fire it. That's how that guy rolls.

also? What the fuck?

It was a made for tv movie as I recall. It certainly had a one time showing on Fox or some such channel, as I have half of it on VHS somewhere. The wiki article mentions a 2008 Best Buy DVD release... I may have to track that down.

Edit:
Originally airing on FOX Television in 1998, Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. was written by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Blade, Jumper).

Maybe the pilot was from like Maine or something, maybe he was all "fuck Manhattan!"

So I saw Enthiran.

It sure was... a thing.
So for those that don't know, Enthiran is a three hour bollywood robot action song and dance epic. I watched it in three sittings because... fuck me that's a long movie.

Basic plot is indian scientist makes a robot, robot has wacky adventures, scientist is having girlfreind troubles, girlfriend is going to dump him, they sign, they get back together, they all go on wacky adventures together, robot begins to fall in love with girlfriend, robot project is deemed a failure by indian scientists superiors, scientist hacks his sentient and concious robot to bit with an axe and dumps it in a land fill, rival scientist digs it up, rebuilds him and gives him an evil red chip, robot goes on a graphic murder rampage with an army of clone robots killing hundreds. Scientist ends up removing red chip, scientist is charged with mass murder, robot gets him off, robot dismantles himself.

Its.... weird.

I don't know if it's just a cultural thing but it's really jarring when a movie cuts from humour for like 10 yearolds (the two scientists assistants who seem like badguys from a kids show with all the pratfalls and goofyness associated) then it will cut to a gang attempting to rape the main chick, or the robot saving a chick from a fire while she's naked, she freaks out runs away and gets hit by a bus. It's just like... who is this movie aimed at?

But the action was aweosme and completly fucking insane. And the sheer weirdness of the movie kept it entertaining. Would reccomend if you're into watching weird as shit foreign movies. But yeah, maybe take it in breaks.

Guilmero Del Toro + Kaiju Monsters + Giant Mechs + Charlie Day + Ron Pearlman.

FUCK YES!
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed-up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

You neglect to mention that one of the core creative designers is Guy fucking Davis.

This will be my favorite movie ever, I have absolutely zero doubts. I am hype. So hype.
