Was Street Fighter always that slow paced? Maybe it's just that I've been playing mostly VS. Capcom games since SF2:SCE, but I'm used to a lot more dashing and special attack spamming, especially with Ryu. And I generally suck at fighting games. I'm not sure if I really want to buy SSF4 now.

Yes it was, the vs games are much much faster.

SSF4 felt really slow after I'd played blazblue for a while, but you play it for a bti and it starts to feel natural and is a really really fucking solid fighting game.

And blazblue feels slow after playing Guilty Gear for a while. Terms of speed.


Vs. > Guilty Gear > Blazblue >=< SNK games > Street Fighter.

SNK games really are all the same speed, but they are just way harder to play and a lot more complicated. Too much canceling shenanigans for me.

Man try play with Golden charecters to see some crazy canceling shenanigans. My friend could cancel Sol's super move into the same super move infintiley with gold sol, he got the combo counter to stop actually counting after 999 hits.

But yeah Guilty Gear is deffintly my fave out of the fighting games, and not just cause I can land Slayer's instant kill 9 times out of 10.

Well. I am talking about GAROU MOW (Mark Of The Wolves) in particular since the gimmick of that game was that with every character, you can cancel out of every move, but not direcly with another move, it was a separate input. The worst part though was that it was practically necessary to do anything in that game and it was horribly annoying. Maybe it's not as much of how much canceling it is as much as how there is a lack target combos and very few Gatlings. It is just way too hard for people starting out and I just can't get into them.

4 is a lot slower than 2 even, health bars are bigger and attacks don't put the same enormous chunks into it.

Y'know that Daigo fight was really cool and technical and close but it still doesn't compare to the first time I heard of him. 2004 he's at a sliver of health and his opponent is practically full. Daigo goes berserk.

All about the timing baby! What's more impressive is he has the calm to pull that out. I'm pretty sure any competitor there could pull the same move off but not necessarily under those conditions.

Thing is though, he wasn't blocking he was counter-hitting every single one of those hits. If he had blocked at all, he would have died from chip damage. That is why it is so amazing. Not only that, he went right into a combo- into his super for the win. Very classy.

Also, after watching this recent tourney, I now get why that guy says that this is rare footage of Daigo mad. The dude is so zen, it's ridiculous.
