So I've got a Birthday coming up and my Mom if there's anything I wanted (my parents being on the other side of the country). I listed that book, along with a couple others. It's probably that because of Samuel L. Jackson's face on the cover that she will just send me an Amazon Gift Card rather than just buy it for me.

So from SDCC Matty Collector announced a Voltron Classics line aimed at collectors.. and they bloody price it accordingly too. Each Lion released every few months costs from:

$35 each for Red and Green,

$40 each Blue and Yellow and;

$50 for Black Lion.
That's $200 just for the set of lions.

Then there is the figures, which are $15 a pop ($75 total), but they include alternate heads and a key to open their lions so you can PUT THEM INSIDE THEM.. just like the original one..


So that's $275 for the whole set.. and that's if you get them in time.. I dare say this will sell out..

He's also offering a subscription package where you automatically and guaranteed a Lion and Pilot every couple months as well as an exclusive bonus figure for a total of $290.

And all of this isn't including postage.. and its completely made of plastic.. I've paid that price including postage for a combining robot that is 70% diecast..

However, ever since attending a friends birthday party when I was 7 and witness him receive Voltron as a present I have been extremely jealous. I have spent many a times on ebay sourcing a decent condition original and sometimes almost succumbing to buying a Hong Kong bootleg rerelease.. The problem with the originals is that they suffered from chrome cancer, the doors were always missing, limited poseability and good luck to having all the accessories...

Yeah, my old Voltron has the chrome whitening like that one. Pretty sure they all have the doors though. Also, since I got it at a yardsale when I was a kid, it has no pilots, and I'm not sure what else it missing. I remember having the sword,but I haven't seen it in years. Worse, I dropped it on the floor as a kid and broke the shoulder joint. It could probably be fixed with some glue now that I know the difference between plastic modeling cement and plain old flour and water paste.
