Rather than letting the few colored pixels [that sounds racist] get in the way of faster loading for those with slow internet, if you do that, you cut down the size from 600+ kb to 280 or so. Less if you do a little image optimizing. It lets those of us more interested in critiquing fellow artists need to spend less patience and spend more time being helpful.

The womans nose would show more information if you have a thinner line on the bridge before you used a thicker line to indicate the shadow beneath it. That's more information with the same amount of effort.
Matador wrote:This probably stems from not having a sharp enough pencil. While not every drawing needs a sharp point, it's easier to describe something as thin as a hair if you have something as thin as a hair.
Matador wrote:That said, you seem to have a good understanding of anatomy. However, you seem to have a bit of a problem with feet [and hands, though that's a bit harder to get in the amount of time you have in these studies.] Your feet seem to be a bit of club shaped. It might be wise to spend one of these classes focusing your entire page on accurately depicting feet, or try drawing your own feet in your spare time. I also suggest [and you'll hate me for repeating your teachers] practicing blind contour drawings of your hands. Not too often. Maybe once a month or so. It's important to be able to describe things by gesture. It may not be fun, or beautiful, but it's good practice.

Editor:
After seeing the political cartoon about Mormons, polygamy and same-sex marriage, I can’t sit silent anymore. I realize hyperbole is the stock in trade of such cartoons, but I have to point out the vilification of Mormons in the media and public opinion following the Proposition 8 vote in California is based almost entirely on falsehood. Everyone seems to ignore one small fact: Mormons do not practice polygamy. Polygamists are out there, but they’re not Mormons. The Mormon church discontinued the practice more than 100 years ago and does not condone or tolerate it. There is no hypocrisy in the Mormon stance on same-sex marriage.
Those who have resorted to attacking the Mormon congregation deserve nothing but scorn. They yammer about tolerance and their rights and how they’ve been mistreated, and meanwhile they have unerringly found a child on the playground who is less popular than they are and begun some old-fashioned lying and bullying of their own.
I kinda felt bad about the first one because the person was very rational. But I fucking love this letter. I might frame it and keep it on my wall. I am a schoolyard bully who beats on the kids less popular than me. I deserve your scorn!
