7 months before The Emperors new groove if you want to try that, but the movies arn't in any way simmilar, ones about an unamed (But obviosuly aztec inspired) kingdom, in the height of its monarchys ruling power, the other is about spanyards ransacking ancient aztec ruins for gold (And possibly homo-erotic love)

Also Road to Eldorado is a fan-fucking-tastic movie. Easily standing on its own two feet.

I remember thinking it was terrible and racist. But I haven't seen it since middle school.

I remember being impressed by it's sensual nature. But yeah, only saw it once when I was a wee boy, so kinda fuzzy.

Both of those movies are pretty decent. But yeah in general Dreamworks 3d animated stuff tends to be subpar, and usually a weak attempt to cash in on a Pixar movie's success. Not that they don't also make other things which are sometimes good.

Awesome movie.

Antz and A Bug's Life were released pretty close to one another, I'm pretty sure it was just coincidental.

When the movie came out isn't a good indication of whether another movie tried to follow it's trend. When it was announced to leaked would be a better attestation.

I suppose, although they probably had similar production times.

No more of a coincidence than Finding Nemo and Shark Tale were. It's a wonder Disney doesn't have a bunch of movies about an ogre in production.

I think you've got that switched a bit around, Tekk. Pixar sets the trends, they don't follow them.

Tekk said DIsney though, completly diffrent ball park there. Disney now make shitty CG commedies about talking animals (See Chicken Little)

You say that like Dragostea Din Tei is a song worth respecting in the first place, Teal. It's fun, don't get me wrong. But it's terrible.

I think Jeremy Parish of Gamespite (or someone on Gamespite anyway) best summarized why Pixar is ahead of every other CG studio in terms of the quality of their movies. To paraphrase:
1) The movies' humour is self-contained instead of resorting to Family Guy levels of leeching off of the last fourty years of pop culture.
2) The humour and storytelling actually respects its audience instead of making fart jokes to distract the kids and sexual innuendo to pander to the adults.
3) Celebrity voice actors play character instead of playing cartoon versions of themselves.

On the actual topic, saying that 3D is better than 2D is like saying that painting is better than sketching.

Has anyone used that analogy yet?
