I've had to put boxhead ben on the shelf for the moment, as something more epic has come to my attention..

Image

Remember my Gumby helmet? Well 3 of my friends jumped at my idea to make pacman & the 3 ghosts into helmets ready for the masquerade on new years eve. We've organised a pacman workshop this sunday so we can gather, have a couple beers, measure each others heads and get creative (I already thought of it so, please dont take that out of context)

Those are the prototypes, with the grid on their faces so scaling them up will be rather easy. Also yes i know pacman isnt green. I'm colourblind and i selected fluoro green instead of yellow on the colour palette.. it printed out a different green altogether.. Perhaps i'm running out of ink in the printer..

Also unlike Gumby, these will be painted. Well thats the plan anyway. We dont know if all the ghosts are gonna be in edible mode, or we'll make one side good the other bad. We would have to buy more paints and it could become quite expensive.

I cant wait!! :D

IT WAS A COMPLETE SUCCESS!

Well for the most part. It was like walking around as a mascot. People smiling and giving us high fives and hugs (ohh the hugs from the ladies) and kids were dumbfounded and couldnt get enough. The kids didnt quite understand who we were, most thought we were lego, but yeah they had fun.

In fact it surprises me how many people dont know who pacman is, as we got a few "HEY LEGO MEN!" and "ITS TETRIS HEADS!".. dumb-asses.

They were made from cardboard and stuck with glue & reinforced with tape, then a couple coats of spraypaint. The eyes were pieces of paper with a couple squares coloured in with a marker, then stuck onto the mask. The ropes you can see dangling, were a bit last minute and we wanted to have a zip toggle thing so we could secure them to our heads, but the toggles didnt eventuate and they were used to hang round our necks once we ran out of oxygen

Thanks. Umm no plans to make any that size as of yet. My friends and I joked about what we could walk around in next, but making those things was a test of our friendship haha  Sooo stressful.. Like for me, I have no problems making them as i'm pretty patient and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to making stuff. They on the other hand started stressing out when they were trying to glue/tape the things together. I kept telling them it'll be a bit tricky to start with, but yeah I took many deep breaths that day haha ayah..

I would like to make a start on the smaller boxhead of Ben Folds i mentioned a few posts ago tho..

It would actually be pretty cool for you to do a theme with Peanuts characters and musicians' heads. I'm sure you could think of an appropriate bald, sad musician to be Charlie Brown.
