Most of the previous t-shirt fodder characters have been used just as much -if not more- but their appearances were usually punctuated by months or even years. Even if you re-read the archives all at once you tend to forget that they're there. Conscience Cat and Dr. Crab show up for weeks at a time and just keep coming back.

That's odd! Because before this storyline, Dr. Crab's only appearance was in the story that introduced him, which ran a year and a half ago. Conscience Cat, on the other hand, had only appeared in 4 individual strips. Ever.

Gin, I'm sorry you haven't enjoyed the many, many Conscience Cat and Dr. Crab stories that I have kept running over and over for weeks at a time! In my defense, they only existed in your mind. Maybe you imagined some really lame stories!

Look, if you don't like a particular character, then don't like them! You are allowed. It doesn't hurt my feelings!

But what DOES bother me is when you try to rationalize that dislike by tossing around accusatory phrases like "overused" or, even worse, "t-shirt fodder"... like you only dislike them because I have been forcing them on you for secret selfish and underhanded reasons. It's not true, it doesn't even make any sense, and it's just essentially on par with calling me a douchebag.

Stuff like this is the reason I barely post here anymore. Honestly, just think about what you are actually saying before you say it, OK?

I'm not going to ban you or anyone else! I'm just asking folks to cut me a little slack and try not to assume the worst of me every time I use character who happened to appear on a t-shirt once. It's just kind of a downer. I'd like to think by this point I'd earned the benefit of the doubt.

Sam, I'm vaguely indifferent to the cat and crab, but I appreciated them as plot devices when you first used them. They are both interesting and unusual, and seemed to mesh nicely with your other characters.
