Some politician in Las Vegas tried to pass a law that would make the penalty for graffiti be the amputation of the person's thumbs.

Because heaven forbid someone make Vegas look tacky.

I'm sure graffiti is the worst thing happening in Vegas.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard. This isn't some country like in Aladdin where thieves get their hands cut off at the wrist (although I'm not sure if that has historical basis). I hope he was just doing it so his story could get popular on digg.
