The World
It takes place in an alternate world, or distant future, or something, I don't need to know and therefore neither do you. In this future, people live on tops of spires and mountaintops for the surface of the world is covered in a dense forest and fog. Living on the spires is okay, people travel to and from them by way of airships and ziplines and the like. They farm on top of the spires, build wells to get water from the surface and etch out a living. However people still need supplies from the forest occassionally (medicine, fuel for the airships, lumber, etc). So there are teams who go down into the fogwood to find whats needed.
The Fogwood
The Fogwood is a scary place, visibility is very low and the entire land is covered in a strange fog. If you inhale, ingest, or imbibe any of the fog you'll start to suffer the effects. After a few seconds, all your cells in your body will repair themselves and multiply. A few more seconds and your entire body will turn cancerous due to the rapid multiplication of cells. Plants will begin to grow from your body, vines coming out your nose, flowers bursting through your chest, that kind of thing. If you're with a friend they'll have killed you by then. If you're unfortunate enough to be alone, then you'll be in constant pain, no longer able to think it's so excruciating, unable to die because of the rapid healing cells. A person exposed to the fog for more than a few seconds will become a hulking plant abomination, seeking to destroy everything it sees. It's an extremely dangerous job to be a Fogrunner.
Fogrunners
This story revolves around a team of Fogrunners. Equipped with gas masks and tools for their specific jobs, they venture down into the deep dark Fogwood for the good of the Topland. There is usually one team per city while small villages either hire the city teams or just send volunteers down. People don't volunteer often. Fogrunners are well paid due to the nature of their work.
The Team
Ian Corey

The leader of the team.
23 years old, 6'1", 160 lbs.
Ian carries a beam sword in his belt. The sword does not have a blade until is is withdrawn at which point the tip of the blade extends out creating an energy sword in between the hilt and the tip of the sword. (Same stuff as No more Heroes). Useful for cutting through plants and plant monsters alike. He also has a large pack with him to carry things to and from their transport.
Ian is a great leader for the team, he's brave and courageous and has the great ability to calm people down in a disaster. People see him as the man without fear. In reality, he's only brave for the sake of his team, he's really quite a scaredy cat. He just knows that if he panics everyone else will too. He doesn't sleep well at nights, staying up worrying.
Sammi Reyes

22 years old, 5'8", 115 lbs (Not counting the arm).
Sam is the logical member of the team. She can see scenarios other people would miss. A master at chess and problem solving, she's saved the team more times than anyone can count. A while ago, she got slashed in the hand by a plant beast. Transmiting the fog disease, it started to spread up her arm until she managed to cut off the circulation with some extremely tight bandages. It continues to grow up her arm but it's been greatly slowed, it should reach the shoulder in a year or so. The arm can stretch and has immense strength.
"Fitz" Michaels

17 years old, 5'10", 135 lbs.
Fitz is the youngest member of the team. He carries a pistol packed with flame rounds, similar to flares. It holds three shots. Clever and cocky, he's a man with great instincts and a great aptitude for traversing through the fogwood. His cocky behavior has the unfortunate tendency to make everyone hate him. He's also a bit paranoid about the fog getting in, having lost his parents to the fog. So he always has his gas mask with him, even in town.
More characters are coming.
It's not an exceptionally original concept but it should do, and I like it myself. And why yes, I have been messing with textures.
