Just skiming through, it seems to be a very good collection. And I think the art ones can be left as is, as they are pretty self explanitory. I'll find some quotes for you in a bit and post them up here. I'll work in reverse.

Also, I think this should be in there. It's linked to in the first sentence of "the word, gaming's second class citizen," but I think it deserves it's own place.

From "The Word,..." article
"The bigger point is that language has been enslaved by the gaming industry as a tool toward this end."
"If studios and publishers want “narrative”, they seek out the best of the novel set, failing from the start by trying to insert one form of the language medium as an attachment."
"Words have a playful space that we don’t enjoy enough"
"don’t have it all figured out, but I damn well recognize that there’s a problem we should talk about more."

From "The search for video game auters" article.
"Auteur theory is basically a theory about creations sharing coherent identities from an author,"
"The reason being being that it's easy to lose one's enthusiasm for any idea if you feel as if you have no say in its creation. "And if the majority of the team loses interest in what they're doing it's hard to see how greatness can be achieved.""
"In game development, because the studio is so important and because the team is so important and because there are so many variables, the auteur ends up being the studio itself. It's the, let's call it, the Studio Auteur Theory. More often than not, the studio heads or lead designer at the studio are driving the vision"

Hope this helps.

Beautiful. Thanks.

I was trying to figure out what section "Less Talk, More Rock" should do in. Design, or Storytelling. The article touches on both subjects. I kind of think that the Auteur Forum: Mechner and Chahi might need to be moved to design.

I need to dig through and find more political articles. Not necessarily legality, but things that could be used in an article about censorship.

I'm finding that if I just devote an hour and a half to this every day it's not as overwhelming as I'd assumed.

Edit: Done for the afternoon. It's actually starting to look pretty impressive.

After I actually finish adding all my articles, I'd like to add a sister-blog to back up articles that might be in danger of deletion. Kotaku articles, for instance. There were a couple in there that I went through and the link no longer functioned. I think they save editorials, but there are some things I'd just like to back up. I wonder what kind of permission I'd need for that kind of thing?

If it's published for free, and you reference it, I think it's fair game for all the ones who don't have any advertising. Not sure about the ones that do, as you putting them up could be seen as stopping their revenue. Having a file for personal use would be fine though.

I'm calling the reference page done for the foreseeable future. I've added my resume, gallery and a written works pages. I'm not sure if I necesarily want my portfolio to be one and the same with the blog, but this is what I'm doing for now. A couple days from now I might start a word press account for a separate portfolio site.

New Post: Portrait of Cast Mechanics.

I feel like it's too short, but it's meant as an example supporting previously stated opinions.

I'm tweaking the site a bit overall. Not much different, but the stretchy thing it had going before frustrated me. Now it's a bit more tidy.

I decided I want to make a portfolio book; Spiral bound with a DVD holder in the back; something that I can have produced on the cheep and ship to potential employers. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? I have a very specific idea of what I want to make, I just need to put it together in InDesign [which I'll need to learn] and chug out the actual content for the Portfolio. Even if I can't make this book, I can still post the PDF as an online portfolio ready for download, but I'd still like to put together something physical.

Basically, I want to do something like this, but with a CD tray like the one's from the Venture Bros. DVDs. If I can I'll take some pictures of the actual trays to show what I'm talking about.

I've got a new post on my blog that may or may not comb over Star Wars and Beer.

New Post: The Gospel is Second Person.

Also, does anyone have any other designers they think I should add to the list?

Hey Matt, I thought I'd post to tell you that I do read your blog. I think you make a lot of good points but I don't talk about them because I feel I'm not smart enough to either make the points I want to make or debate with you on your level.
Tell me a story baby.
I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

Can you imagine how badass the bible would be if Jesus had written it?

It would probably be shorter, because it took like, a whole crew of dudes to write the one we've got.

Also, I read your blog Matt.

Right on. I've a following.

It's nice to know that there are people that appreciate what I'm saying. It makes me hope that someone who reads it might hire me.

I've made several attempts to read your blog, Matt!

It's not that I don't care, it's just that game design theory isn't something I'm terribly interested in to begin with, and when you lay it on so thick and heavy... my eyes glaze over.
I'm not really working on anything at the moment, but here's a link to my tumblr anyway.
