Don't undersell yourself. You just haven't had a lot of time with the programs, yet.

Thanks for the kind words, I supose the main rub is that I am really more interested in getting all the prep work done so I can actually start animating which is really the end goal here.
This is the look I'm heading towards with the texturing so far. I want to play around with the settings in 3d max for the line weights, and I've still got some work to do on the actual texture map, but I'm pretty happy with how it's looking so far.

This looks great dude. I hated texturing. But yeah put as much prep work in as possible, especially in the binding.

The textures look good!
But I feel like there's something off with the arms... Like they're too long or too straight...

They're about half a hand too long, it was intentional though I want him to look really lanky.

They will look less straight when he's rigged and can actually move them.

Ok so I started rigging and animating and have run into a major problem in the way I modeled it.

ok so my first real attempt at animating. His arms look a little to wobbly for my taste, not really sure what's happening there. Needs more playing with.

PARKOUR!

Looks good dude. If anything Id say raise the body a bit in running, to like make him look like he is light on his feet. He looks pretty weighted. Those parkour guys have a graceful defying gravityness to them.

I kind of wanted his run to look heavy and deliberate. But you're right if he's going to be jumping around the place I should probbably pay more attention to how pakour dudes actually run. Looks like time for youtube research.

Basicly the end product is going to be a video made to look like a gameplay video of a game that in my mind would play like the old prince of persia games but a lot faster and more reaction based rather then puzzle based.

It doesn't really look like the arms are actually swinging or is the animation just that fast that I can't really tell?

From where we are situated, it looks like the arms are just moving quick enough so that when they reach one key frame the other arm is where it's twin already was.

I think the animation looks pretty good, but I'm not a fan of how the camera bobs up and down with his running. It looks kinda choppy because the camera remains centered on the character model while he's running and makes it bumpy. But I imagine that's the program's fault, not anything you did, Ben.

He would have bound the camera to the character. Saves animating 2 things. Kinda like those music clips where camera is locked on persons face..
