Spiral Knights Assemble

Postby Jim North » Fri Apr 22, 2011 5:31 pm

Folks suggested that we might want to start a separate thread for Spiral Knights, but no one was doing anything about it! Being a man of inaction, I was pretty content not to be doing anything about it myself, but what the hell. Let this be my one proactive deed for the month.

My character is Jehem.

That level is aaaaawesooooome. I didn't get into it today, sadly, but I did manage to pop into it a whopping three times yesterday.

Admittedly i did go into one of those danger rooms that cost to get in. DEAR LORD THAT WAS BRUTAL

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to take a party into one of those rooms. Like, that super Jelly that Desov mentioned earlier drops 3-5 tokens, aka one for each party member.

Also, playing on my home comp now! Name is Tekkactus, obv.

Seargentdrill reporting for duty!

I'm still figuring out how everything works. Fun game though. Atleast when I can pull myself away from minecraft and dragon age 2.

Yea but what's a little cooler than that level is the Arena level! Materials from everywhere! For free! If you kill the insane monsters that are carrying them!

Also, Stock.

I keep saying to myself, "Self, you should totally go look through the Spiral Knights wiki!" To which I keep replying, "Fuck off."

I'm not sure if it's a "real mean don't need instruction manuals" thing or an "I'm a lazy, pathetic bastard" thing.

I don't quite understand the mechanics of the game.. Still on tier 1, I don't know how the different levels things works or how to find the treasure trove..

Oh and I didn't rage quit because I found it like gambling.. I'm like yeah if I spend that those 64 units of energy to revive I'll surely win this time.. *DEAD* Oh man...

Each tier has several floors to it called depths. When you get to the end of the depth you're on (that being, when you and everyone else in your party step onto the elevator), you hit Decend (which costs energy) and go down to the next depth, which is a whole new floor to clear out. I haven't gone down to the other tiers, but I know that tier 1 has seven depths in all. Once you hit the elevator at the end of depth 7, it takes you back up to Haven again automatically.

The treasure trove, apparently, is a randomly thrown in depth. If there is any specific way to get into it, I don't know it.

Presumably, a new set of tiers and depths with different monsters to fight and goodies to plunder. Probably coral themed, with ghosts.

I'm with you there. I've only reached the end of tier 1 once. But I've got some better gear now, so it should be easier going from here on.

Okay, there's a few different things you can pick up while in the Clockworks.

Crowns - Money. But you almost certainly already know that.
Heat - Gear experience points, basically. Probably figured that one out already as well.
Dungeon items - Occasionally you pick up these little things that show up in the 1-2-3-4 slots at the top of the screen. You press the number button associated to arm yourself with them, then the attack button to throw them at enemies to various effect. Or, in the case of antidotes and healing balls, you remove status effects or heal yourself.
Crystals - Another something you almost certainly know since one of the quests teaches you about it, you sell these at the unopened gates. You can just autosell 'em for maximum crowns, or you can pump them into particular dungeon types to get that type to open up faster. Personally I've just been autoselling them for now.
Ingredients - A lot of the stuff you pick up in the Clockworks are materials for alchemy recipes, which you can buy from vendors.
Tokens - There's a token vendor in the bazaar that will trade tokens for alchemical components.

Hey, if anyone spots the recipe for the Cutter, think you could pick it up for me? I've got all the ingredients but one, but Basil hasn't carried the recipe to craft it for me yet. I'm good for the 1000 crown cost.

I have a cutter recipe and can make it for you when you're online. I've also got other recipes, so chime in if you need anything.

That goes for the rest of you, two. I'm currently working on my gear, but I have a bunch of recipes that I bought and used once, so if you have the materials and want something crafted, ask me before you go diving and trying to by it in the middle of a tier.

I've added a bunch of you to the guild. I'm still getting the hang of it.

Edit: As of now everyone has been moved from Recruit to Member. I've also added Kelso as an Officer solely because he is a mod here. He'll be able to add or promote anyone into the guild as necessary. I'll probably add others depending on the necessity.

Well, thank you. I seem to get unexpected access to things like this (I guess just the irc channel actually) being a mod. It's undeserved, but I won't complain.
Guild halls are still borked though, so nothing new to do on that front.
