Jack was trying to figure out whether he liked Zimmy or Annie and was relieved - for some damn reason - to figure out the answer was Zimmy.

Annie was trying to get back at Jack for abandoning her and Ren back at the power station by toying with his emotions, unsuccessfully.

Basically what I'm getting from this is that Jack has really weird taste in women and Annie is still awash in bad habits she picked up from the forest.

Ok that's kinda what I thought was happening. But it's such a bizarre plot for a storyline and really out of character for Annie so I thought maybe I was missing something.

Pretty much everything Annie has done since she got back from the forest has been out of character for her. She's basically become a completely different person that, to be honest, I don't like very much.

Really just seems like an extension of her confidence. She's one of those "fire-people," so it's just highlighting that increased knowledge of who she is. Problem resolved though, perhaps she won't continue this sort of behavior?

It does seem like more of an expression of her fire side, yes, but in a negative way. Before, her confidence was calm, cool, collected, and at least sometimes well thought out. Now she's just making shit up as she goes along, even if it doesn't make a single lick of sense, brazenly pushing forward into plans to win back Kat and to punish Jack that if she had only taken a few seconds to think through she'd have known they weren't going to work.

Problem resolved though, perhaps she won't continue this sort of behavior?

Poor, naive stock. The laws of narrative causality demand that this sort of behavior gets even more insane and completely out of control before she truly learns her lesson.
