Ultimate Indoctrination Madness!

Mass Effect thread is a go. Talk about your favorite class, whether Shepherd is a genocidal maniac, your favorite moments in the games, etc.

Please everyone properly split up and spoiler things, as not everyone has finished/gotten as far in the game yet.

I'm most interested in learning how things turn out differently with different choices.

Tuchanka/Genophage:
Spoiler: show
In my game, Wrex and Mordin were both alive and I chose to cure the genophage (ignoring the Salarian dalatrass's request to only pretend to). What happens if Wrex and/or Mordin are dead? What happens if you choose to not cure it? Is there any way to both cure it and not have the dalatrass pull all Salarian support from the Crucible?

Kaidan/Citadel (immediately after genophage missions)
Spoiler: show
Thane saved the Salarian councilor from being killed by Kai Leng. What happens if he died in ME2? Is there any way for him to have survived into this game and not die here? What happens if you kill Kaidan? What happens if you don't kill Udina? (but lets be serious, who could pass up a chance to kill Udina?)

Oh, and from the other thread:

Dating peoples:
Spoiler: show
Matador wrote:Yes, you can date Traynor. She's kind of a slut. Not really a sweetheart like Kelly was. Supposedly you can date Allers, but I never got that far.

Traynor's a slut? She's awesome! And Kelly was a huuuuge slut. I think on my next playthrough I might try to date Traynor. Or maybe stick with Liara. Or cheat on Liara with Traynor.

And yeah I had an option to flirt with Allers, but I hate her so much so never happening. I can't wait to kick her off my ship in the next playthrough.

Matador wrote:The scene with Garrus is prett cool even if you aren't dating him. You're just a couple of bros hangin' out before the apocalypse comes to a close.

Does he still take you up to the top of the presidium for a sniper shooting contest?

Also I think it's pretty clear that Garrus was the correct dating choice for female Shepard in ME2. Since Thane dies and Jacob is having babies with some other ex-Cerberus chick in my game.

I played Femshep in ME2 and carried my save to ME3.

On Datin':
Spoiler: show
Garrus still takes you to the top of the Presidium for the Sniper contest. Still pretty badass. We're definitely bros.

I'm on PS3, so my ME1 choices came from the Interactive Comic thing (Which I hated). I Chose to date Liara and Save Ashley. In ME2, I chose Thane, who survived. In ME3, I Liara asked if I wanted to be with her, or be with Thane. I told her I wanted to be with her. Then I heard from Thane, who was callin' me Siha, and visited him in the Hospital. We talked, and there was an option for essentially casual sex, so for the hell of it, I took it. When I went back to my ship, Liara told me she knew I went back to Thane, and then told me we were going to have a professional relationship.

On Datin' Traynor:
Spoiler: show
She'll ask you if she can come up to her room, then asks if she can use your shower. She's in there with the door wide fuckin' open for you to watch from the end of your bed. You get the option to join her in the shower. Towards the end of the game, she starts mumbling shit about wanting two kids and a white picket fence, even though we had one "Date" that she treated like casual sex. Slutty and needy; If she wasn't a fictional character, I wouldn't talk about her that way, but shit, Bioware does this kind of thing in almost every game. Bioware needs to learn the difference between Character Flaw and Sex Object, though that rant might be taking it too far.

With Kelly, all I did was chat her up, spend an evening having some girl talk, etc. She's just naturally flirty, without actually being a slut.

On the Grissom Academy mission:
Spoiler: show
Jack reminds me so much of 80's Ororo. The Mohawk, the mentor role, etc. I hated Jack in my first ME2 playthrough, but the way they turned her around for ME3 really redeemed her inclusion.

Karmic moment in ME3 involving Overlord:
Spoiler: show
If you finish Ranock before doing the Cerberus Scientists mission, you can tell the guy who headed project overlord that his research and the sacrifices his brother made were all for nothing. The guy walks off depressed, presumably to kill himself.

Is there a list out there of characters that can and cannot die in the suicide mission in ME2? I'm kind of interested in killing off specific characters and keeping specific others. Also, every character I took to ME3 lived through the Suicide Mission and every character save Zaeed was loyal (Though I honestly wish I'd gotten him killed based on the side mission I got in ME3.)

Right now I'm playing a Paragon in ME2. My current plans for this save are in the spoilers. All spoilers below relate only to ME2 and not ME3.
Spoiler: show
-I want to Get Samara killed and take Morinth with me as a squad member.
-Destroy Maelen's Research.
-Keep Thane Alive, but get his son pissed at him and thrown in Jail
-Piss off Miranda and see if I can get her sister to Mrianda's Father
-Save Jacob's Father in some way, shape or form, just to see how it affects Jacob (Low Priority.)
-Save Tali from Exile by ruining her fathers reputation.
-Talk to Legion a Lot more. Kill the Heretics rather than Brainwash them.

So you know, right now I'm on Omega about to recruit Archangel. If you have any other suggestions for this play through, let me know.

Has anyone else finished Mass Effect Three yet?

I'll be finsihing it tongiht, saved just before going back to earth last night when I had to go to bed.

On Thane Aggers
Spoiler: show
He died in the suicide mission for me, no one stops the assassin, the salarain tries to cloak to get away and the assassin kills her.

What's really amazing me is how much stuff it remembers and how subtly it can change the game. For example in the Tuchanka mission, With me, my mate and a guy on a forum I know we all did the same basic choices but
Spoiler: show
We all revealed the sabotage and cured the genophage, a guy on a forum ended up with Eve Killed, me and my mate were pretty similar, but the scene at the end where Mordin goes up to cure the genophage played out differently, on my save Mordin started to get nervous when he got in the room at teh end and started singing the major general song to himself cured it, then looked pretty upset about the whole dying thing, on my mates he got up there stayed silent, fixed the thing then stood there with a smile as the place exploded

I want to go through and play through ME 2 and kill everyone, have Shepard be the only survivor of the suicide mission to see what happens.
The racist one.

Dating:
Spoiler: show
I dated Liara in 1 and Garrus in 2. In the very beginning of 3 after Liara comes on board, she asked what our situation was, and I said just wanted to be friends. Garrus asked the same thing when he joined and I said I wanted to still be with him. He asks again during his Citadel scene and I say yes again and there are some inter-species makeouts. There's also an option to purposely lose the shooting contest, which I picked. Garrus makes a joke about it being his favorite spot on the Citadel.

On Traynor:
Spoiler: show
In my game, Traynor mentions how nice the room is and there's an option to ask her to take a shower with you, but I didn't pick it. Instead we just bro'd out and played chess. I like my version of Traynor a lot actually.

Overlord and the Scientists mission:
Spoiler: show
Why were the sacrifices his brother made for nothing? I would say the exact opposite. Legion specifically says he based the tech that allows you to enter the geth consensus through VR on Overlord's research, so it seems like they directly helped us out a lot. I didn't buy/play Overlord in ME2 and I did the scientists mission before destroying the Rannoch reaper.

Every character can die in the ME2 suicide mission, but you need at least two still alive otherwise Shepard dies too (and so you can't import into ME3). You can end up with only one alive though, since you can kill Zaeed on his loyalty mission. So if he's one of the remaining two on the suicide mission you can do the loyalty afterwards to kill him. The Mass Effect Wikia has a very good guide on how the game determines who lives/dies on the suicide mission.

On the Geth Heretics (spoilers for the ending of the Geth/Quarian plotline):
Spoiler: show
From what I can tell, killing or brainwashing them just affects the relative strengths of the Geth and Quarian fleets. I killed them all, and my Quarian war assets get a little boost and my Geth fleet has a little penalty. If you manage to get both as allies in 3, it probably works out the same value overall. But if you pick only one or the other to be allies, then your choice in ME2 would affect your score.

Ardat Yakshi
Spoiler: show
I'm super curious to see how the monastery mission turns out if you killed Samara and took Morinth in ME2. Let me know when you find out.

Mordin, Eve, and the Genophage:
Spoiler: show
Eve survived for me. I believe she dies if you did not save Maelon's cure in ME2, and I've heard if you don't do the mission to stop the bomb on Tuchanka the explosion can kill her as well. Mordin sang the song for me, but I think he also smiled? I don't remember exactly.

Oh and if you guys have the Xbox version, we should play multiplayer some time. My gamertag is Arrakis328. I think I maybe have you guys on there already?

ME2 has a false ending where everyone fucking dies and Joker comes back through the relay with a nearly destroyed ship. Never gotten it before.

Tchanka and Mordin
Spoiler: show
Eve Survived in my game and I revealed the sabotage to Mordin. He died singing his Gilbert and Sulivan song.

I am the very model of a scientist salarian, I've studied species turian, asari, and batarian.
I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because i am an expert (which i know is a tautology).
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a scientist salarian.

PS3, and my PSN name is Nomnisang.

Overlord
Spoiler: show
Yes, but he thinks that it was all for nothing because I had already finished the Geth mission and the original goal of the project was to control the Geth. Even if it wasn't for nothing, that's still how that conversation ended, and I still say it was karmic.

Mordin:
Spoiler: show
Maybe whether or not he smiles is affected by whether or not you let him kill Maelon? I stopped him. Maelon emails you afterwards.

Salarian support:
Spoiler: show
Hackett says that the Salarians have reconsidered and are now aiding us even though we cured the genophage because I saved the Salarian councilor (or was it ambassador?). Also the Salarian councilor is grateful to me for getting her the council spot (I guess cause I let the old council die?)

However, even though he says this, it isn't reflected in my Salarian war assets. I still only have Major Kirrahe and the STG, which I've always had. Maybe a bug?

Fate of the geth:
Spoiler: show
Anyone let the Quarians wipe out the geth? Or vice versa let the geth wipe out the Quarians? What happens to Legion in those cases?

Salarian Support:
Spoiler: show
The Salarian Tasks Group doesn't side with the Dalatrass and thinks in the best interests of the Galaxy to support the Alliance.. or something to that effect. It was in one of the messages. It might be based on how you help them out.

On the Demo and Kirrahe:
Spoiler: show
Captain Kirrahe, the STG guy from Virmire in the first game, is supposed to appear in the third game when you rescue Eve and Mordin. I never got to meet with him. Now i'm playing ME2 on PS3 and talking to Mordin, and it's saying he died on Virmire. Is there any way to change this so I can meet in in ME3? Do I have to Kill Wrex, or something? I've got the interactive comic thing, so I can change a few things in the game. I'm wondering if that's a consequence I can change or not. I mean, I like Wrex and all, but I'd like to meet Kirrahe if at all possible.

Kirrahe
Spoiler: show
No idea about Kirrahe. I have all three on Xbox and just saved him normally in ME1. Wrex is alive for me too, so there obviously was a way to have them both. Your options might just be more limited if you have the PS3 version.

You're not missing out on a whole lot. He's on the Salarian homeworld and you can chat with him a bit, but that's it. He's worth 20 war asset points.

On the salraian support, if you go into the STG and shit, you can scroll down and see updates to it based on what you get.

On Mordin, I let him kill Maelon and got the same.

On overlord
Spoiler: show
I did it after I finished the game, when I talked to his older brother I had the option to tell him his brother was fine after the attack on the school or remain silent, I remained silent and he walked off to kill himself.
The racist one.

More datin things:
Spoiler: show
I almost forgot: Joker. There's a conversation in Purgatory where he wants to know whether he should pursue a relationship with EDI or not, and there's an option to ask him why he never considered you. I didn't take it, but anyone know if you can have a relationship with Joker?

Datin'
Spoiler: show
I don't know, but I'm not sure I would date Joker. That would split EDI and Joker up, and that has to be one of the cutest/disturbing couples in all of science fiction.

Speaking of hookups... I walked in on
Spoiler: show
Tali and Garrus making out
towards the final hours and it was nothing short of adorable. It's the most valid reason not to date
Spoiler: show
Tali or Garrus.

What! That's awesome! I will totally have to make sure that happens on my next playthrough.

Man this game is super glitchy. Besides not getting some war assets I was supposed, I have missions to recover artifacts in areas that are already marked 100% and every time I play multiplayer it resets my single player weapon loadout to be what my character was using in multiplayer...

Also it won't remember that I've maxed out Sabatoge for some reason. Every time I go back into the squad screen it's back down to max-1.
