Had an awesome birthday extravaganza with my girlfriend these past few days (her birthday). I put together a picnic with her in Central Park and baked a cake for her with my sister (lemon lemon lemon). Everything was really wonderful and while there was very little sexy anything since she lives with her friends right now, it was a great time. She put together a party where she cooked her famous fried chicken with honey/cayenne pepper sauce and had a few close friends over. She's gonna be leaving for Florida pretty soon (for...well, ever) and I'm trying to get as much time with her as I can right now. I'm down for long-distance shenanigans, I did them for a long time with someone much harder to deal with, but cringe at the thought all the same.

I've been working pretty much every day at the cafe since I've been home. 10 hour shift today, 8 hour shift yesterday. My feet are killing me. But I'm making so much money. In the next two weeks, I will have made up all the money I spent over the past year alone. There are a couple of things I need to buy with the money, though; a record player, recording equipment, and stuff for my dorm next year.

There's also a lot of stuff going on outside of work. I'm going to Amsterdam and Prague with my family next week. I'm pretty excited. I wish I could go with friends rather than family, but it'll still be fun.
I saw The Shins on Monday night. They were incredible. Maybe the best concert I've seen all year. The people in the crowd sucked though; I was getting shoved and stepped on all night, and the girls standing next to me were drunkenly shouting the whole time.

I also have my fingers crossed for the chance to play a show at a local venue during the summer. It used to be a place that just tiny acts played, but LIGHTS was there in April and Jukebox the Ghost is coming in July (I have tickets!), so they're definitely getting more popular. I wouldn't open for such a big act, but I would be opening for touring musicians. That would be an incredible opportunity. I've been talking with the person in charge of booking, and hopefully they'll chose me over whoever else offers to play the same show.
EDIT: Literally just got an e-mail from the booking guy. I'm opening for a band called Man on Earth on May 31st!!!

WHAT?.. IT'S THE SHINS! Should be mellow as. I got tix the other day. So far I'm going my myself.. but I bought 2 tix just in case. Would be easy to flip if I can't find a friend.. but yeah I'm getting there early, finding myself an sweet ass seat and plonking it there. Can't wait.

Seeing Mount Kimbie tonight. Apparently they go off and I'm doing it sober. FML

Mount Kimbie was pretty awesome. However the experience was ruined by kids drunk off their faces and dudes peaking.
I've never seen people dance to what was really nothing. There was no rhythm. It was chilled out noise leading into a track
A highlight was a girl who got up on stage, danced around for a second, then went up to the lead? and kissed him on the cheek. She then grabbed him by the face and tried to make out with him before she was escorted of stage haha
My mate bailed bout 20min before it ended just so they could get a cab easy. He wouldn't have said goodbye either if I his gf didn't tell him. Jerk.
