Avengers was totally awesome. And yeah, I thought Mark Ruffalo did a pretty amazing job as Banner. Everyone in the movie was good actually. Hiddleston does a great villain.

One thing about the Avengers though that i found interesting: Everyone who I went with who hadn't seen Thor enjoyed it noticeably less. Which makes sense given how much the plot is a follow up to Thor I guess.

Man I really didn't enjoy Thor though. The movie.

It's simple as that, it's simple as that, it's simple as that for your stupid ass.

I liked Thor for the CGI and the presence of Natalie Portman. I thought Loki was a little too angsty of a character. He's a way more interesting villain in Norse stories, like a mythological version of The Joker. He'd help the other gods, then turn around and stab them in the back. He also once turned into a horse, got pregnant, and gave birth to the eight legged steed that Odin rides, but I think that might have been too much for a Marvel movie...

I liked Loki as the villain in the Avengers, though I just didn't get his whole "Freedom is a curse" idea... I would have bought it if they had explained how he got to realize that. They should have showed what happened between Thor and The Avengers that caused him to change like that.

Banner/The Hulk was probably the crowd favorite too, maybe besides Iron Man. Lots of laughter and applause during his 'fight' with Loki. I also really liked the friendship between Tony and Bruce. Science bros forever. Actually, I think it was just nice that at least two of the Avengers were friends from the get-go, rather than everyone hating everyone right away.

Spoiler: show
Personally, I got the sense that that wasn't actually a real change in his character. It seemed more like it was just a line he was using as part of the whole deception he was running for the first half of the movie. I mean, I might be wrong, but I don't remember him mentioning the "freedom is a curse" thing once his plans had come to fruition and the Chitauri showed up.

I think he definitely intended to subjugate the human race with the power of the staff, so that whole "freedom is a curse" thing definitely plays out through the movie. I think it was more Loki's vaguely insane desire to be a ruler, than a result of any real philosophical musing. But I think there were character aspects that the movie introduced that there just wasn't time to fully explore, understandably. Hopefully a second movie would focus more on character development than this one.

Second theory, this one is reaching.
Spoiler: show
So coulson dies. Or did he.
Step 1: Fury says that the team could work if given the right push, he's planning all this from the begining
Step 2: Tony answers his phone "This is Ton'ys life model decoy" implying they exist in the movie.
Step 3: When Coulson lands back on the helli carrier cap goes to talk to banner, black widow follows em. Someone approaches coulson and says something along the lines of "It's time for your face scan"
Step 3: Coulson dies. He's suprisingly cool with it, agrees that they needed a push.
Step 4: At the end of teh movie, when Robin leaves fury a ballding agent in a suit whos face you don't see walks in to talk to fury.
Step 5: Coulson's actor is signed on for IM3.

So did coulson die, or was it a LMD?
The racist one.

I don't think it's reaching. That's pretty much what I was thinking about from as soon as it happened.

Seems like a lot of effort just to bring back Expendable S.H.I.E.L.D. Grunt #37 to me. What makes that guy any more valuable than a Star Trek Red Shirt?

The fact that he's gained a pretty huge following, had his own comic mini series, features in a prominent role in the new Spiderman cartoon, and has recently been introduced into the main comic universe?

Son of Coul mother fucker.

Definitely the most likeable guy featured in several Marvel movies.
