March Patreon Rewards Out Now

A new month's worth of rewards are available now to all folks backing the Sam and Fuzzy Patreon! There's a new cosplay-themed bonus art vote for all backers, a brand new issue of behind-the-scenes and making-of goodies for Sam and Fuzzy Extra backers, and a ton of new marker illustrations and layered PSDs for Secret Art Vault backers.

And for folks who like pin-up stuff, four new pieces have been added to the pin-up collection for Saucy Hippo backers: some costume considerations with Harley and Ivy, some demonic mishaps with Candice and Sam, and the last two pieces of Dev's burlesque act set. Combined with Gert's set, that makes two completed acts so far! (As always, be aware that some of the pin-up stuff is "nsfw"... unlike the regular S&F comic and other tier rewards, which only contain wholesome swearing and violence.)

Come back on Wednesday for our next comic. See you then!

Sam and Fuzzy Q & A:  The Pits Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"What is (or was, before our current slew of expositional backstory) your favorite reader theory as to the contents of the Pit?" -Dawson

Oh man, I sure have heard a lot of them! My favourites are probably the ones where the Pit contains some sort of Time Travel portal. That sounded fun, if wildly complicated! Often, these theories would somehow tie back to explain Future Fuzzy and the presense of Rexford. And maybe they could even facilitate the ever popular "Carlyle is really Sam from the future" fan theory! Although I don't think anyone has ever actually believed that one... it's more of a longtime joke theory that's popular with some of our older readers. (One which Rikk Estoban riffed on in the joke alternate ending included in the Omnibus I & II set.)

Just in case anyone was curious, over the years there have also been two readers who emailed me with guesses that were more or less the actual answer. I did not respond! I hope you weren't offended, prescient readers!

"I can't believe no one asked this... is Fuzzy a Tar-creature? This comic is the explicit/covert suggestion for it. That could explain why Fuzzy never met anyone of his race.

Also, who was the original human "committe member" that discovered the wonders of Tar? Why did he/she decide to build an organization of inhumans? What advantage did he/she wished to achieve, that wasn't possible without an underground society?" -Zoárd

Raphael's theory is that all inhumans come from the tar. If that's the case, that would make all of them tar creatures, or descendants of 'em. But if you're more specifically asking if Fuzzy specifically was a one off tar creation borne from a human experiment, well... all I can really say is that's one possibility!

As for your second question... the Committee actually existed before any of them discovered the tar. It was formed to keep inhumans safe and keep balance between the surface and underground worlds. They discovered the tar sometime after, and took an interest in it because of the implications it held for their mission. Then, when they realized how dangerous it was, they decided to hide it away. (Or at least, most of them did.)

The Committee is also probably not the first group of people to discover and experiment with the tar. It's been around a long time! But it seems like everyone who tries to mess with it winds up meeting an untimely end, or experiencing some other sort of disaster.

"The question I have for you is: How do you imagine Rexford’s voice to be? Who does he sounds like in your mind? Is there a particular celebrity, or a fictional character? I ask because in Friday the 23rd’s panel, I read his last line as Clint Eastwood, and it was amusing." -Alex

This question actually came up once before, from someone who thought Rexford should be voiced by James Earl Jones! Although I don't generally associated real voices with my characters, I think the late Tony Jay (of Megabyte, Frollo, and countless other animated characters) would have been a bang on choice for old Rex.

That's a wrap for this week! Come back on Monday for our next comic.

I kell me

Keller, as you'll recall, is currently occupying Ninja Mafia HQ. And it looks like he's been using that to his advantage. He's a busy cyborg!

We return on Friday with a new comic, and also a new round of Q and A! As always, if you've got a question you'd like answered, pop it in an email with "Q and A" in the subject line. See you then, team!
