July Patreon Rewards

Another month has gone by... which means a new month's worth of Patreon rewards are available now!

There's a new bonus art vote, and new features and sketches for Extra and Vault level backers. And for adult humans who like pin-up art, there's a quartet of Saucy Hippo-tier pin-ups and comics (nsfw) staring Gert, Andrea, Dev, Jess, X, and Y. You can learn more about all this stuff on the Patreon site. Woo!

See you on Wednesday, team!

Sam and Fuzzy Q & A:  Delayed Vote Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"ACK! Somehow, I managed to completely miss the Vote Dog kickstarter! Is there a way I can still get in on one of the artist edition? I have an artist edition of all the previous kickstarter books!" -Alice

Don't worry, Alice! In the next week or two, I'll be opening a preorder store that will give folks who missed the initial campaign! I think pretty much all of the rewards from the Kickstarter, including the Artist Editions, will be available in the preorder store until we need to lock things down in preparation for shipping. I'll let everyone know as soon as the store is open!

"The current Hazel/Brain origin story is one of the first times you have done a flashback for a long established character that requires a completely different character design (instead of, say, different fashion choices, or archaic noodle arms). Was it a challenge to design the young version of Hazel with her adult design so strongly established?" -Dawson

I had a pretty strong image in my head of a baby-faced Hazel, so it came together pretty easily this time. Plus, it was a fun chance to show her with her natural hair colour. (She is Korean, after all.)

It's actually modern Hazel that I am a bit less sure of... in that I've never really decided what colour her hair actually is now! I know she dyes it, but I have a tendency to draw it different light colours each time I draw a colour picture of her. I guess either she's indecisive, or I am. Or both!

"How long is the comic you're making for the Saucy Hippo Patreon tier going to be?" -Jason

I don't actually know! The pin-up comic is a rare example of me at least partially making up a story as I go. I've been doing pin-up stuff for quite a while, but this is my first actual comic of that kind of material, so I just tried to pick a goofy open premise I could improvise gags from -- in this case, an extremely convoluted ancient Ninja stripping-based board game. It's actually kind of similar to how I wrote the earliest, earliest short S&F stories, one gag at a time. (Er, only with less cussing and violence and more butts.)

We return on Monday with our next comic. See you then!

Summer Con Schedule

Did you know I'll be attending not one, not two, but three cons this summer? It's true!

As usual, I'll be at Gen Con in Indianapolis and Fan Expo in Toronto. But this year, I'll also be returning to San Diego for Comic-Con! This will be my first time back at SDCC in almost half a decade. Looking forward to seeing the show again. It's only a couple of weeks away, ahh!

We return on Friday with our next comic and a new round of Q and A! As always, if you've got a question you'd like answered, just pop it in an email with "Q and A" in the subject line.
