Hearts and flowers

Valentines Day! Be it based in sincerity or capitalistic greed, I have a hard time taking any holiday seriously when I still have to go to work. But I will put my cynicism and laziness aside to draw a picture of the wonderful Claire -- who I am very lucky to have in my life -- piloting a killer cat robot. She'll have to wait until I am a little wealthier before she can crush us all in a real one.

You might recall a time not too long ago when I mentioned a fellow who was planning to draw a 100-page comic in 100-hundred hours to help raise funds for the tsunami relief effort. Well, the comic is completed now, and viewable to anyone who'd like to donate to UNICEF. Head here if you are interested.

I've put it off for long enough... the time has come for me to purchase a Sega Saturn. You just can't be a self-respecting Sega fanboy without one, and since the company appears content to publish mostly garbage these days, I might as well try to relive their glory days. Um, not that there was much glory surrounding the Saturn... but there were a few really good games that I want to play through. I've got my copy of Nights but not a Saturn itself -- I've been monitoring ebay for one, but I need a seller in Canada to avoid customs duties, and such sellers are a little sparse. Canadians, if there is somewhere else I should be looking, please let me know.

Embrace me or replace me

Whew! Things are crazy on my end these days. In addition to my usual layout designer duties at YES Mag, I'm putting together a metric ton of illustrations for our upcoming "Periodic Table" issue. I guess atomic chemistry isn't exactly the most photographable subject. Anyhow, after a few too many hours of careful labour, I can attest that we've got a ten page feature section with some of the best drawings of tiny coloured spheres ever. I guess Chemistry 12 came in handy after all! Stay in school.

The verdict is in: some humans want Sam "Can't Dance" shirts. I should probably be striking while the iron is hot, but I think I'm going to take a couple of weeks instead to stew over exactly how this will look. With a little luck, you'll see both it and another new shirt around the start of March. Of course, in the meantime there are a number of other thingamys in the shop that are disappearing after today. Tomorrow, these suckers are gone. Gone like a horse.

A complicated horse. A horse that no one understands, 'cept for his woman horse.

Ominous!

Please do not emulate Fuzzy's actions in today's strip, folks. Boiling these items together is a bad idea. Please enjoy your industrial adhesives, household cleaners and liquors individually, and expressly for the respective intended purposes of getting sticky, hygenic and sauced.

This strip is full of long-forgotten memories. Remember Butcher? Remember Roger? Heck, remember Fuzzy, for that matter? I know the little psycho has been MIA in the comics of late. He will be back in full force later, of course, but in the meantime, I am somewhat relieved that folks are still enjoying this storyline and not burning down my home. Yesterday's strip went over particularly well, and quite a few have requested a "Can't Dance" shirt design based on Sam's disco stance. Is this is a thing you need in your life? Let me know!

If there is one thing that every single one of us can agree about, it's legalizing heroin. Wait, no. I mean more Topato. We can all agree about more Topato. And Topato is already legal, no change is needed! Viva la status quo!
