Sam and Fuzzy Q & A: Unleaded Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"Are you going to be at this year's Emerald City?" -Emily

I probably should have answered this question when I first received it a couple weeks ago, because since then, Jeph and I have been announced as guests on the Emerald City Comicon website!

But to be completely redundant... yes, I will be at the Emerald City Comicon! It was my favourite show of last year, and I'm eager to repeat the experience. Anyone who finds themselves in Seattle on the weekend of April 4th is thoroughly encouraged to swing by.

"I don't mean to pry, but going through the archives I noticed the occasional guest newspost from Alteka. Who is she and where did she go?" -Andrew

Sometimes I forget how confusing things like that must be to people new to the site. I guess I just assume that no one reads all those ancient newsposts! Alteka was Claire, my girlfriend at the time. Once or twice, when I was unexpectedly incapacitated -- like when I came down with appendicitis -- she helped me out by updating the site for me. You'll also see my friend Ashton pop up now and then in the archive, doing me similar favours.

Reading the newspost archive is always a surreal experience for me. It's just year after year of entries that seem like a whole lifetime ago. References to people I haven't seen in ages, to old jobs... to school even, for goodness sake! It's weird how this website becomes a kind of permanent monument to so many different eras of my life. I guess that's what happens when you are in this game for as long as I've been!

"When did you first started drawing comics, and did you keep any of the old pictures that you drew from way back then? " -Kendra

I first started drawing comics when I was about six or seven years old. And man, were they ever awesome. Just check this action out!

There. Now the site really IS a monument to all the eras of my life!

"Does N-M-S still have all the ninjas under their power, or is it just Aaron, Sam, and Fuzzy?" -Jeffrey

That's a good question! Here's a frustratingly vague answer. You'll find out much more about Ninja Mafia Services and its employees in some of our upcoming stories!

That's all for this week! Tune in on Monday for the next installment of "Help Wanted"!

Back!

Webcomics Weekend? Pretty sweet. It was a supreme pleasure to attend an event where every single attendee was a webcomics keener, and seeing so many enthused reviews of the show in various blogs makes me very, very happy. Mer and company did a fantastic job putting this thing together, and I can't wait to see what they do with it next year.

I don't think I've ever seen so many of my cartooning friends in the same place... not even at San Diego! But there were still lots of folks there that I'd never met in person before, like Anders Loves Maria's Rene Engstrom, A Softer World's Emily and Joey, Instant Classic's Brian Carroll, Something Positive's R K Milholland, and xkcd's Randall Munroe. (Not to mention Lucid TV's John Keogh and PvP's Scott Kurtz, both of whom I had met before but only for the briefest of moments.) I'm sure I'm forgetting someone... but with so many artists there, it's practically inevitable! It was a killer crowd and everyone was on their best behaviour. Success? Success!
