Arrr

I'm glad so many of our Book Club keeners are excited about the new desktop! Poor old sad dinosaur pirate seemed like the kind of thing that would be appreciated by the Sam and Fuzzy hardcore. (Maybe now he will cheer up a little.)

A few folks have asked whether purchasing the Book 2-pack, rather than just Volume 2 on it's own, will still qualify them for the Book Club. The answer... is yes. Aggressively yes. By all means, please buy both books. Buy all the books. I support you in your decisions.

We return on Friday for a new comic and a new round of Q and A! Got a question you're dying to have answered? Just pop it in an email with "Q and A" in the subject line.

A new year of Book Club bonuses begins on September 30th!

For those of you who are new around here, allow me to fill you in! Last year, we created a little book club for all the folks who bought a copy of our first book. Every couple of months, we sent them a new free bonus pack of digital comics and other goodies. Well, we have a new book out this year, so we're doing it again!

The first Book Club Bonus Pack for Sam and Fuzzy Are Very Famous will be sent out on September 30th! Everyone who has bought a copy online on or before September 29th will receive it automatically. (If you bought it at a convention, just drop me an email and I will help you out!)

Our first bonus pack features a pair of new desktop backgrounds in a variety of resolutions. One is based on the cover of the book. And the other -- which is the one I know a lot of you will be really excited about -- is a painstaking recreation of Fuzzy's infamous sad pirate dinosaur painting. (I may eventually sell a print of this sucker, if anyone is interested... but for now, Book Club members can enjoy the free desktop!)

I'll also be including a bundle of never-before-seen early Sam and Fuzzy comics. Like, pre-webcomic early. This bundle is particularly relevant because it contains the first few pages of an abandoned story about... Fuzzy becoming a sitcom star! It was one of the last comics I drew before rebooting the series as the webcomic you know today.

Anyhow, that's the bundle! It mails out September 30th. Enjoy, book owners!

Sam and Fuzzy Q & A: Two Ships Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"Quick question, I was looking back through Sam and Fuzzy Fix Your Problem and realized that Fuzzy encountered Mr Blank in 'The Big Cheat.' If it was actually Mr Blank, wouldn't he have recognized Fuzzy later when he hunted down Sam in the Noosehead volume?" -Petro

You'd think! But if you check back, you'll see that Fuzzy never manages to get a glimpse of Blank on the security cameras. And during the brief seconds that they were actually in the same room, they were both too distracted -- Blank by the band, and Fuzzy by the fall -- to get a good look at one another.

It's actually a little forced, in retrospect! But I really wanted to bring Blank back for a flashback story and, as you said, he and Fuzzy couldn't actually meet. So instead, they barely missed one another, like two ships passing in the night. (That's what that expression means, right?)

"Has Sin always been (and I mean in your head, not in the plot) a weird something? Or in the beginning he was really invented as Human and from there you just started to change your mind about him being a person, and started to change it as a monster/hamster/thingy? " -Avael

Sin has always been a thing in a robot suit. But what WASN'T planned was the idea that his suit had customizable hair and facial features. That only started when I accidentally drew several strips where Sin didn't have his eyebrows on. I wound up explaining it away as a joke a few strips later, and from there, a running gag was born! Now Sin sports a new look every time he builds a new identity... as one of his many near-identical brothers.

"When Sin eats food in his robot body does it go to his organic body, power his robot body, or does it go to a small chemical lab in his robot gut where he turns it into saliva so he can spit on babies after kicking them?" -Tom

Actually, I think Sin's food just goes through a hole in the back of his mouth and directly into the hands of whatever creature is living inside that robot head. Makes as much sense as anything else!

That's a wrap for this week, team. See you on Monday!
