Go Patreon Go!

Thanks to everyone who has already backed the Sam and Fuzzy Patreon! I honestly wasn't really sure what to expect, but it seems to be going quite well! I'm pretty pumped.

I'm also having a lot of fun prepping some of the higher backer rewards. I've already started up the exclusive art blog, where I've been posting some upcoming comics and design sketches, and now I'm busy rounding up comics, pin-up art, desktop backgrounds and other goodies to stuff into the innaugural "secret art vault". I know a lot of supporters will just want to chip in a buck or two to support the comic -- which is awesome! -- but for those who do want to splurge for a bonuses and extras, I think I've got some fun stuff lined up!

Our next comic arrives on Wednesday. See you then!

Exciting news, friends: after much deliberation, I have finally launched a Patreon for Sam and Fuzzy!

Different artists uses Patreon for different things. As you'll see on the Patreon page, I want to use it to make more art and more comics! Direct support from contributors will reduce my reliance on time-consuming side work, leaving me with more time to, you know... draw stuff. I dream of a day when I can throw more events like the Sketch Offs, and draw more comics beyond the regular M/W/F Sam and Fuzzy!

For those who don't know, Patreon is a sort of Kickstarter for ongoing projects. It lets fans support artists and fund the creation of additional content by donating an amount of their choice each month. And like Kickstarter, there are bonus rewards for pledging at different levels... in my case, rewards like:

-A Patreon-exclusive Art Blog, where regularly post concept art and sneak peeks, as well as a healthy smattering of my sketches, pin-ups, and other art.

-Access to my Monthly Secret Art Vault, stuffed full of hi res comics; desktop and mobile backgrounds; previously unpublished cut material from my pin-up and art collections (and previews of upcoming ones); commissions drawn for readers; layered PSDs (for folks who want to see how the sausage is made); and more; updated each month.

-and for the art collectors out there, Original Art Work and Custom Drawings!

But even if none of that extraneous fluff interests you, you can still help fund the creation of extra comics and art by chipping in as little as a buck a month. That is the beauty of Patreon as a system... it all adds up!

I'm not sure exactly what to expect. But I'm excited to find out! Sam and Fuzzy has always survived by the support of it's readers, and as the strange world of online commerce has shifted and mutated over the years, that support has taken a lot of different forms. But long story short: any opportunity to add extra creative hours to my day is impossible to resist, and any amount of support is both helpful and appreciated. Let's see what happens!

Art Cards

Well, here I am... not at San Diego Comic-Con! It still feels a little weird to skip it, after doing it for nearly a decade. But that show is a zoo! I may yet go back some day... but I don't miss the insanity. What I do miss, though, is seeing readers at the show and drawing fun stuff for 'em!

On that note, if you'd like to simulate the Sam and Fuzzy convention experience, you could always get one of the custom-drawn sketchcards I'm doing right now! Just like I do at cons, I'll draw a picture of the character of your choice... with an optional costume or genre/theme of your choice, if you'd like to put a particular spin on it.

If you'd like, you can nab an art card by itself right here, or alternately, get one with a copy of the Artist Edition of the New Sam and Fuzzy RPG! If I get a bunch of requests, I may fire up ye olde video stream on Friday and do some of em live.
