Sam and Fuzzy Q & A:  Time Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"So is there a particular time period S&F takes place in, other than 'now-ish'? Because Candice's flashback smartphone threw me a loop." - Nicholas

In the 14 years (!) that I've been drawing the comic, just over six years have passed in-universe in the comic. So, depending on which side of those 14 years you count from, the Classic Era could take place as early as 2002 or as late as 2010!

I generally avoid mentioning specific years in the comic, but personally, I tend to lean more towards the "rolling present" interpretation than the one that slowly turns the comic into a period piece. So I guess that's where the smart phone comes from!

"Why didn't Hart possess Hazel at Sam's apartment or the Radio Station?" -Tripp

I think it was just strategic! Sticking with the ninjas was the better long-term goal. And short term, as long as he was possessing the body of one of them, the other two ninjas would be on "his side" in a combat situation. If he had switched into Hazel's body, he wouldn't have any peons to come to his aid, and might even end up having to fight them.

"Was wondering if Brian's cat like form is a personal choice of his or if that's just the way he is? Like can members of Hart and Brian's species pick their shape?" -Sean

That's a good question! I can't say now, but we'll find out a lot more about Brain and his kind in future chapters.

OK, team! I gotta go get ready to head out to Victoria for the Camosun Comics festival and keynote talk! If you're going to be in Victoria yourself this weekend, you should swing on by... both events are free to attend!

Lots of news of note today, friends! Let's break it all down.

1) Today is the last day for Patreon backers to vote for this month's two bonus art pieces! If you're a backer, you'll find the link to the poll in my Patreon activity feed.Really curious to see what you all elect this time! (Last month's, in case you missed 'em, were Ninja Fitness Gert and Sam and Fuzzy's tribute to abandonned 90s gaming mascots.)

2) Topatoco has partnered with DHL to offer cheaper international shipping! We were all pretty bummed when USPS jacked up their rates at the start of the year, so I'm glad we've got a new option! If you live outside the US and want to order some rad Sam and Fuzzy swag, it should now be a little easier on the old wallet.

3) I will be in Victoria, BC this weekend for the Camosun Comic Arts Festival:

-On Saturday from noon to 5pm, I'll have a small booth at the free-to-attend festival, which is held on the third floor of Camosun College's Young Building.

-On Sunday at 6pm, I'll be giving a free-to-attend author's talk at Bolen Books, alongside Tony Cliff, Renee Nault, and Faith Erin Hicks!

Busy, busy, busy!

Seattle'd

Thanks for a swell Emerald City Comic-Con, Seattle-ites! It was, as always, a pleasure.

I don't normally do this sort of thing, but here's a fun little Easter Egg in today's strip: Sam's insistance on focusing on normal little goals was probably informed by Carlyle's (perhaps slightly misunderstood) advice.

We return on Wednesday for our next comic. See you then, team!
