The Halloween Sketch-Off starts at 11 AM Pacific!

Today's the day, friends... not just for Halloween, but also for my traditional Halloween Sketch Off!

What's the Halloween Sketch Off? It's when I spend the day drawing inked sketches of Sam and Fuzzy characters dressed up in various Halloween costumes, based on your suggestions. Rexfordas a vampire? Conscience Cat as Catwoman? Jess Star as a tap dancer? You decide!

It all starts today at 11am! Once I get rolling, just tweet your suggestions my way (or email 'em, if you don't twitter). I'll pick my favourite ideas and make 'em real. You can watch me draw them live on my twitch stream, or just see the finished pieces as I post them on twitter.

And as always, if you see one you like, I'll be selling the originals -- first come first serve -- for the special sale price of $25 (black and white) or $50 (marker coloured). Just email me if you are interested.

I always have a blast doing these, so I'm really looking forward to it. See you on the internet!

Happy (slightly early) Halloween from Dev, Edwin, and the seldom seen Ms. Potts!

"Are you going to be doing a Halloween Sketch-Off this year?" -Aaron

Yes! It's been ages since the last Sketch Off, but Halloween's my fav, so I can't not doing it! I'll be holding the Halloween Sketch Off on Monday... that is, on actual Halloween! How convenient.

For those who are new around these parts, my Sketch-Off events are when I spend a full day drawing inked sketches of Sam and Fuzzy characters in costumes. Every drawing is based on a suggestion that a reader live tweets or emails me. I pick my favs, spend the day drawing 'em, and stream the whole shebang!

It'll start at 11am on Monday. I'll post all the links and details with Monday's update. Woo!

"Can Jess actually use her shape-shifting ability to turn semi-transparent, like in your latest bonus drawing? Or was that just 'artistic license'? " -Emily

First off, the aforementioned bonus drawing, for those who haven't seen it!

I drew this as one of my monthly Patreon bonus pieces... I make a couple big pieces every month, based on backer votes. Every backer gets to vote, and higher level backers get high res versions, sketches, layered PSDs and other goodies that show how they were made.

A lot of folks wanted to see the gang dressed as traditional Halloween monsters, and I was happy to oblige. I definitely picked Jess to be the ghost because I thought I could use her shapeshifting ability to justify making her actually transparent. That said, I don't know if I'd want to firmly commit to any canonical invisibility powers. (Jess' abilities are kind of OP as it is!)

"Hey Sam, could we have some profile picture style art? That would be awesome!" -Micah

Well sure, since you asked so nicely!

These are, of course, all repurposed from various existing pieces. Should I make a bunch of original ones and sell them as a little downloadable goodiebag? (Or include them as a Patreon bonus?) You tell me, friends!

That's a wrap for this week! Come back on Monday, when we throw our Halloween Sketch-Off, and plunge right back into our big robot story. See you then!

Secrets

Today: things get ruff for President Dog. *rimshot*

As much as I've enjoyed this visit with everyone's favourite canine world leader, we'll be leaving him behind for now. Our next comic joins up with Dev, Edwin, and a surprise bit-player for some special full-colour spooky Halloween antics! Come back on Friday for that, as well as a new round of reader Q and A. (As always, if you've got a question for me, just tweet it my way or drop it in an email with "Q and A" in the subject line.)
