Sam and Fuzzy Q & A: Off the Books Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"How is the new book doing?" -Alex

Honestly? Sales were really strong the first two weeks or so, but they dropped quite sharply in the third. I am hoping that things picked up again after that, but I won't actually find until next Wednesday, when Topatoco sends me a sales report for the last two weeks. (In other words, buy a book between now and Wednesday to help ease my nerves when I see it!)

But I do get it! It's the middle of the summer. People are outside having fun, not in the office buying things online when they are supposed to be working. And I'm sure some of you are thinking, 'hey, that book isn't going anywhere... I'll just get it later!' You want a little extra motivation. No problem!

I'm going to put together some bonus downloadable goodies for everyone who picks up the book by the middle of September. (And for everyone who has already bought one too, of course!) Perhaps we'll even have some prizes for a few randomly chosen buyers as well! I'll think on it and have more info for you all next week.

But in the meantime, why not go ahead and buy a book! I promise it's extremely pretty.

"We've known for a while that NMS resides above Bunton's Books, so how come he haven't seen much of Alexa, Lance, or their new kid? I'd like to meet the little fella!" -Jared

It's just like how old Renaldo had to wait more than a year from his first, lone appearance before I finally got around to doing his story. I am notorious for taking awhile to get to the payoffs of all the little thing I set up. There's probably enough set up in Sam and Fuzzy to provide payoffs for the next quarter century. GOOD WRITING TIPS

"Who would win in a fight... Fuzzy or Pintsize?" -Nathan

Depends on who is drawing the fight! When I'm drawing, Fuzzy wins. When Jeph is drawing, he usually forgets about the fight and just draws a page full of penises.

That's a wrap for this week! See you on Monday.

Bonk

Man, respecting everyone's lifestyle choices is all well and good until you are standing in the same swimming pool.

New webcomic alert! Everyone and their blogging dog already linked to this strip weeks ago, but allow me to provide a convenient time-delayed reminder: Scenes from a Multiverse is Jon Rosenburg's new gig, and it's every bit as great as the title would suggest. Plus, there's a user-voting component, which means every week you get a chance to basically boss Jon around. Who could resist that?

Makeouts

Did you see my extra special Dinosaur Comics guest strip last week? A lot of love went into that strip. (Try clicking the image for extra gigantic bonus love!)

Thanks to everyone who swung by the table at Anime Evolution. It was especially exciting to see so many folks who'd never read the comic before pick up a copy of the new book. Not that I didn't love talking to all the hardcore Sam and Fuzzy readers, too! But it is definitely a wonderful feeling to watch someone read your work for the very first time and like it enough to pick up a copy. So thank you very much to all the anime fans who decided to take a chance on some hefty, inch-thick indie comic book that -- as Angela put it -- looked like it killed a whole lot squids.

(Thank goodness they don't charge for ink by the litre!)
