Sam and Fuzzy Q & A:  Successor Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"I feel like there is a strong argument to be made that Fuzzy is the rightful Ninja Emperor. Roughly, Hart killed the previous legitimate emperor. His weapon just happened to be a human. Since Hart was possessing the human, the intent and accountability lie with him. Candice killed the human, but not Hart. Fuzzy was the one who ultimately killed Hart. Thus, Fuzzy could be considered the rightful Emperor. What do you think?" -Kevin

Haha, that's a fun theory! But ultimately, Hart became emperor by simply posessing the body of the existing emperor. And that dude was alive the entire time he was posessed, until Candice finished him off. It might be Hart's fault that the emperor got killed, but Candice is still the one who actually did the deed.

Fun thought exercise though: what if, instead of possessing the existing emperor, Hart had posessed an assassin and killed the existing emperor? Would that make Hart himself technically the rightful emperor? (Even if he had used someone else's body as the murder weapon?)

Not quite! Because as I'm sure we all know (lol), ridiculous Ninja Mafia Law actually states that if the emperor is killed, the Ninja Council elects one of their members to take his place. An assassin only becomes the emperor in rare cases of hostile takeover, when there are no coucillors left alive, either. So assassin Hart would need to murder, not only the Ninja Emperor, but also the entire council. (Which is, of course, what Candice actually did.)

Gert mentions that she is Sam's "chosen successor". But technically, what Sam actually did was make her a Ninja Councillor... the one and only councillor Sam ever appointed. That makes her the only rightful successor by default!

"First October, then Doctober, then Mocktober. What's next? Rocktober? And will whatever it is somehow justify drawing Doctor Octopus a fourth time?" -Max

It's a surprise! But I have already decided, and it's very stupid.

(Max is referring to the ever changing theme of my Inktober drawings, which was originally octopuses characters, then doctors characters, and currently is characters who impersonate or imitate other characters. You can see 'em all on Instagram or Twitter!)

"Are you going to be selling your Inktober originals again?" -Jason

Yes! Most of them will be $40, although a couple of the more complicated ones will be $45. I'll put them on sale officially once Inktober is over, but if you (or anyone) see one that you would like to get right away before someone else scoops it up, just drop me an email!

That's a wrap for today. See you on Monday, team!

Crabby

You can see "that guy who was really a crab" -- the man known as Dr. Crab or Dr. Love -- make his own on-stage debut at an earlier Inhuman Aid concert in this comic.

We return on Friday with a new comic and a new round of Q and A! Got a question you'd like to ask me? Just pop it in an email with "Q and A" in the subject line.

It's Canadian Thanksgiving! So, in case I don't say it enough, thanks to all of you for reading my comics and supporting my work. I am so, so lucky to get to do this.

And speaking of doing this... time to get back to work! We return on Wednesday with our next comic. See you then, team!
