Big Stretch

Today's comic was drawn to work as a double-page spread. However, that format does NOT fit in my website layout, so I made the alternate split version you see above. But if you're curious, here's how it looks in actual double-page spread form. (This is also (roughly) how it will look when it is eventually included in a physical book!)

As you may have noticed, I started drawing all my comics in "full bleed" format with Cult Classic Pt. 2. Basically, that means that sometimes the art runs all the way to the edges of the "pages", rather than being completely contained within the bordered panels. It also means I have to draw a little extra around all the sides of the pages to account for how the physical book versions will be bound and trimmed, as you can see above.

OK! We return on Friday with our next comic and a new round of Q and A! If you've got a question you'd like answered, just email it my way with "Q and A" in the subject line, or hit me up on twitter.

Whether Permitting

A new chapter begins today! And yes, this is the moment where I admit that this one is part of a bigger multi-chapter story arc. (The real question is, which previous stories were also secretly part of it? Ha!)

We return on Wednesday with our next comic. See you then!

Air Baker

The Air Baker "saga" began here and continued here. Truly, there ain't no rules that say a dog can't have a running joke!

"Are you doing Inktober this year?" -Brent

Not Inktober proper, but I'm planning on doing my own Inktober-esque batch of daily inked drawings a little later this year.

The truth is, I'm a little too swamped right now to tackle extra daily drawings -- I am busy drawing a lot of bookplates for folks who kickstarted our upcoming books. I also have mixed feelings about using the "Inktober" name now that it has become a copyrighted brand with a line of products.

I still want to do a bunch of daily inked drawings like previous years, though! If I can get other stuff wrapped up, I might do it in November. (And I'll also be doing some halloween and pin-up-themed ones based on Patreon backer suggestions later this month.)

"Have you ever sat and just got to read through [all your S&F books] for fun (as opposed to checking for print errors)?" -Ryan

It's always interesting to go back and read a book years later and see it with fresh eyes... by then, I've forgotten enough of it to be surprised by jokes and find out if they're actually funny!

But while I've read individual S&F books that way now and then -- usually in prep for a story or something like that -- I've never sat down and read the whole run. Maybe I should!

"Is that really true about Scott Adams?" -Kate

You don't want to know all the things that are true about Scott Adams.

That's all for this week, friends! Come back on Monday for our next comic.
