You and the Cap'n make it happen

If the last panel of today's comic confuses, don't worry... you just have a terrible memory! (No biggie. So do I!)

We just got back from seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I think it's probably my favourite superhero flick since the original Iron Man. It's a great adaptation of the source material... it uses almost none of the actual plot of Brubaker and Epting's original Winter Soldier comic, but it nails the characters, themes and tone of that book perfectly. And that book is one of my favourites, so count me pleased. (Albiet sliiiiightly motion sick from all that shaky cam. Rein it in, dudes! Think of the children!)

Marvels

Thanks for a nice time at Camosun College this weekend, Victoria! It was, as always, lovely to visit my old home town.

I'm substantially late to this party, but if you've ever watched one of Brian Cox's "Wonders of the..." science docs, you've really got to see this parody series: Marvels of the Science. Professor Scott Bug's accent might be a little goofy, but his aping of Cox's speech mannerisms and explanation techniques is lovingly and hilariously bang on.

We return on Wednesday with our next strip! See you then.

Sam and Fuzzy Q & A: New Site Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"Hi Sam! Love your comic, been reading it since 2006. You've managed to create a very large cast of memorable characters through the years. Have you considered doing a Cast Page for people that are new to the comic, or as a way to provide additional information that the comic may not address directly?" -Santiago

At this point, there have been so many characters in Sam and Fuzzy over the years -- even limited to "major" characters from each of the three series, you're still looking at a few dozen -- I think a single cast page wouldn't quite cut it.

What I'd like to do is something more akin to a wiki... an online encyclopedia of Sam and Fuzzy with a short article for each character, organization and major location. Then, underneath each strip, links to any articles tagged as being relevant to that strip would appear, should you need a reminder of who are what anyone or anything in that strip is.

The infrastructure for the comic tagging and below-strip links was actually built into the new site's archive system already, so that we can integrate this feature into the site in the future! I hope to start working on it once I'm done this particularly dense glut of April and May conventions.

"I was doing some archive reading and came across strip #1082, where Hazel enters a 10-digit number on a keypad.  Since I'm a fan of making pretty much everything I do a subtle reference to something (and it seems that you do too sometimes), I was wondering if that number held any actual significance." - Jared

No! It's totally meaningless. What a missed opportunity! I'm not sure what I was thinking.

For those who don't already know, the other two strips Jared mentioned contain the Sonic 2 level select password and the death year of Robert Boyle.

"So in this strip we learn that the vote for whether or not to investigate Hazel is tied, with Sam voting no, Fuzzy's switching his seat's vote to yes, and the vampire chair abstaining due to their rep being mind wiped.  What is the voting split now that the vampire chair is filled and Fuzzy is missing?" - Tom

The vote, if they held it again, would now be no! It would actually be no even if Fuzzy was still present. Lord Varney (the new holder of the vampire seat) doesn't think much of Mr. Sin or any of his causes, Hazel-hunting included.

That's a wrap for this week! See you on Monday, team.
