Presidential Material

President Dog is back for a new little short story! This one also features a surprise supporting character from elsewhere in the S&F canon. You'll find out who soon!

As you may recall, President Dog defeated President Cat and returned to office in this story. You can find all of President Dog's previous appearances here, or in my Vote Dog book.

Come back on Wenesday for our next comic!

Today's comic is a follow up to last Friday's comic! I didn't do them back-to-back because I am eccentric.

Sam and Fuzzy Q & A:  Colour Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!

"How do you decide whether to make a comic in black and white or color?" -Adam

Well! Sam & Fuzzy started in black-and-white because it was printed in a student newspaper! But I've always enjoyed working in black-and-white, and taking advantage of the stylistic opportunities it presents. So I leaned in and made that a key part of the comic's visual style, and kept it that way for the entire run of the series. (Which, as you know, ran for a long time. Haha!)

But I like working in colour, too! So in more recent years, I started giving myself the option of using colour whenever I was working on something outside the main S&F storyline. And as time has gone on, I've just I found myself choosing to exercise that option more and more. I started using colour for all my Baker the Corgi and President Dog strips, as well as various random one-off comics like today's. The nsfw Saucy Hippo comics I draw for Patreon are also all in colour, too!

I still find find black-and-white very comfortable to work in, especially with S&F characters. Also, if we're being totally honest, I am just much faster at drawing that way! So I've kept using black-and-white (with a slightly expanded range of grey-shades) for all the larger new "S&F universe" stories I've been doing. And I will probably keep using black-and-white for the next few stories, too... since they'll all likely be collected into a black-and-white book in the future.

But I gotta admit... I've developed a look for "colour S&F universe comics" over on the Saucy Hippo patreon tier that I quite like. So it's tempting to use it more over here, too. Comics like the ones I've been running recently -- or like the Clause and Effect Christmas series -- are a fun chance for me to experiment with what kinds of strips I can do in colour while still maintaining my usual update schedule! But I'm not sure yet if I could do one of my big, month's long storylines in colour without changing how often I post.

"When will the last Sam and Fuzzy books be available in your store? (And will we still be able to get the extras like the pins and slipcases and stuff?" -Jon

We'll be making all the new swag available for folks to buy as soon as we're done fulfiling our Kickstarter preorders! I just want to make sure our existing backers get 'em first. (We are currently in the middle of mailing them out!)

But yes, it will all be going up in my store... the books, the slipcases, and the pins!

That's all for today, team. But come back on Monday for our next comic!

No Rules

The Air Baker saga continues! You can read the previous installments here, here, and here. What can I say? I really enjoy this stupid running joke.

This particular one may be a little esoteric, as it requires some familiarity with a specific real world painting. (But no, not the actual dogs playing poker one.) If you are about to google the french part, I will save you the trouble and let you know that, yes... it does in fact say "This is not a rule that says a dog can't play poker."

We return on Friday with a new comic, and a brand new Friday Q and A column! If you've got a question you'd like me to answer, just pop it in an email with "Q and A" in the subject line. (Or tweet it at me.) See you then, team!
